To the Editor:

Last week the Inland Wetlands Commission approved the River Walk Development in Sandy Hook. This project, brought forward by Michael Burton, will bring significant development to property abutting the banks of the Pootatuck River, a portion of which is a Class 1 Wild Trout Management Area.

While development of this sort is always a concern, it can be done well if you have the right plans, design, and execution. Michael has worked with the regulatory bodies to ensure his plans are in compliance with regulations and good design practices. In addition, he has been transparent in his planning and consulted early with organizations such a Trout Unlimited to provide input and mitigate concerns.

We appreciate Michael's partnership in our shared mission to protect the resource and look forward to the successful completion and operation of this project.
