Watercolor Demo By Laura Eden, June 8 At

Meeting House

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will welcome Laura Eden of Granby, who will offer a demonstration in watercolor, on Wednesday, June 8, at 7:30 pm. Her subject will be a floral.

This meeting and program is open to the public, free of charge, and will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole).

Ms Eden studied art at Syracuse University and the University of Connecticut, receiving her BFA from UConn in 1980.

After being a watercolorist for 22 years Laura switched mediums to egg tempera in 2002. Her intimate, detailed view of nature lends itself perfectly to this medium, but for this demo she will be painting in traditional watercolor.

Ms Eden has been in dozens of solo and group exhibitions and won numerous awards. Her work can be found  in corporate collections including Otis Elevator, United Technologies Corporation, Kaiser Permanente, and Aetna Life and Casualty. Her work has been collected by over 1,200 private and corporate collectors throughout the US and abroad.

Beyond Connecticut Ms Eden is currently represented by Trees Place Gallery in Orleans, Mass.; Bayview Gallery, Brunswick and Camden, Me.; and Gallery North Star in Grafton, Vt. She is currently an elected member and board member of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, and a member and past president of the Granby Artists Association.

Reservations are not needed to SCAN programs but additional information is available by contacting Ruth Newquist at 203-426-6654.
