WUMC Service Slated for June 12
WOODBURY â Woodbury United Methodist Church (WUMC) invites the public to its Spirit of Love contemporary worship service in the churchâs Fellowship Hall at 7 pm on Sunday, June 12. This monthâs service will feature a Methodist Love Feast led by Ed Dzitko, a certified lay speaker in the United Methodist Church.
The Love Feast is a service that was first introduced by the Moravians in Germany. It features sharing of food, prayer, religious conversation, and hymns. John Welsey, the founder of Methodism, first experienced a Love Feast ten years later and it quickly became a regular part of Methodist society meetings in England. It also was an important part of early American Methodism.
âThis upbeat evening service includes plenty of excellent praise music, a short message from a member of the congregation, and a great opportunity to get to know our church in a relaxed atmosphere,â said Susan Theodos, WUMCâs Contemporary Worship Committee chair.
âAs always, children are welcome to come â we appreciate their participation,â she added.
The event, normally held on the second Sunday of every month, is on the third Sunday this month only.
WUMC is at the corner of Church and Main Streets.
