Voting Machine Coverage Commended

To the Editor:

I would like to commend John Voket for his excellent coverage of the state’s RFP for electronic, touch screen or DRE voting machines. These machines are error prone and cost more to purchase and run elections with than other available options. All of the local municipalities in Connecticut will suffer for years, and possibly decades, with additional costs and less reliable voting if Secretary Bysiewicz does not withdraw the current RFP and issue a new one.

Optical scan machines are less expensive, more reliable ,and more transparent and should be considered in a new RFP.
