Don Andrews Will Be

At Next SCAN Meeting

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will have Don Andrews, a national known artist from Alabama, painting a figure in watercolor at the next meeting of SCAN on Wednesday, June 8 at 7:30 pm.

The demonstration will take place at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (Route 25, at the flagpole). The public is invited to attend, free of charge.

Mr Andrews is an active member and past board member of American Watercolor Society (AWS). His paintings have received numerous awards in national watercolor competitions, including three awards from AWS. He has been an artist-instructor for more than 250 workshops across the country as well as in Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Artist Workshop Tours Agency, which coordinates many of the workshops for Mr Andrews, says the artist is a “sensitive observer and a powerful painter with a wonderful southern charm and humor. Exuberant color is his forte and trademark. … His dynamic style combines dramatic design and impressive rendering with brush.”

Numerous publications feature his work. Mr Andrews is the author of the book Interpreting the Figure in Watercolor, as well as the video, Making Watercolor Glow. He is also featured in the Watson Guptill publication Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Watercolor and has twice had feature articles in American Artist magazine.
