Annual Event Promises ‘Berry’ Good Time

SOUTHBURY — As far as the residents of East Hill Woods are concerned, summer hasn’t officially begun until the community’s annual Strawberry Festival is over. Yes, strawberries are consumed by 94 percent of American households, and yes, strawberries are produced year-round, but the combination of summer and strawberries seems reason enough for East Hill Woods to host its annual Strawberry Festival from 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Wednesday, June 15, at 611 East Hill Road.

Guests will have the opportunity to mingle among residents while enjoying strawberry shortcake prepared by professional chefs and lively musical entertainment provided by Two Friends.

In addition, guests will be given a taste of life at East Hill Woods through tours of selected resident apartments. The life care community, which overlooks the Pomperaug River Valley, offers residents a full spectrum of care ranging from independent living, on-site assisted living and skilled nursing care.

“The Strawberry Festival is a wonderful opportunity for people in our surrounding communities to visit with our residents and experience what so many people love about East Hill Woods and the advantages of life care,” said East Hill Woods program Rosalie Fryc.

This is the fifth year for the popular festival, which drew more than 200 guests and residents last year.

“Strawberries seem to be synonymous with June,” said Ms Fryc. “The homemade shortcake prepared by our culinary staff is absolutely incredible and definitely worth ensuring that this event is on everyone’s calendar.”

For more information about the free Strawberry Festival or to be added to the guest list and schedule a tour, call 262-6161 by Wednesday, June 8.
