'Strawberry Moon' Preview Party To Kick Off Roxbury Library's Annual Book Sale
âStrawberry Moonâ Preview Party To Kick Off Roxbury Libraryâs Annual Book Sale
ROXBURY â The Friends of the Roxbury Library will be holding their annual book sale, rain or shine, on Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18.
The Hodge Memorial Library & Museum, located on Route 67, facing Roxburyâs town green, will also be the location of the preview party, âUnder the Strawberry Moon,â to be held on Friday, June 16, from 5:30 to 8 pm. The party will launch the three-day event. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the library.
Admission to the preview party is $35 per couple or $20 per person. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase items from the full selection of antique and rare books, autographed books and first editions, as well as nearly-new books. Wine, beverages, and hors dâoeuvres will be served.
A silent auction featuring a unique collection of birdhouses decorated by local artists will be held as well as the raffling of a hand-hooked rug made by some of the Friends and other creative residents. The eveningâs theme, âUnder the Strawberry Moon,â pays homage to the name given by the Native Americans to the moon in June. Tickets will be available at the door.
At 8:30 am on Saturday, early birds may pay $5 to gain entrance to the book sale before the 9 am public opening, which is free of charge. The sale will continue until 4 pm on Saturday. This yearâs huge inventory includes thousands of books of all categories from cookbooks and biography to the hottest new fiction plus mixed media of all types.
On Sunday, June 18, from noon to 3 pm, most of the remaining items will be sold at half their ticketed price.
