Strawberry Festival Will Kick Off Summer At East Hill Woods

SOUTHBURY — As far as the residents of East Hill Woods are concerned, summer officially begins with the community’s annual Strawberry Festival.

Yes, strawberries are consumed by 94 percent of American households, and yes, strawberries are produced year-round, but the combination of summer and strawberries seems reason enough for East Hill Woods to host the sixth annual Strawberry Festival from 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Wednesday, June 14, at 611 East Hill Road.

Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with residents while enjoying strawberry shortcake prepared by professional chefs and lively musical entertainment provided by Two Friends.

In addition, guests will be given a taste of life at East Hill Woods through tours of select resident apartments. The life care retirement community, which overlooks the Pomperaug River Valley, offers residents a full spectrum of care ranging from independent living, on-site assisted living and skilled nursing care.

“The Strawberry Festival is a wonderful opportunity for people in our surrounding communities to visit with our residents and experience what so many people love about East Hill Woods and the advantages of life care,” said Rosalie Fryc, program director.

“Our residents and staff are eager to serve as your hosts and hostesses for this celebration highlighted, of course, by sweet strawberry shortcake homemade by our expert culinary team,” she added. 

Last year’s two-hour festival drew over 200 guests and residents.
