Girls U13

Roadrunners 2, Westport 1 – The Roadrunners avenged their only loss of the season by defeating a tough Westport team. KellyAnne Brophy converted a penalty kick for the first goal and Kaitlin Brophy scored the lone second half goal to break the 1-1 tie. Midfielders Sarah Murtha, Emma Kingsley and Ali Pliszka had strong all around games.

Roadrunners 1, Southbury 0 – KellyAnne Brophy drilled home the game winner late in the second half off a corner kick by Kaitlin Brophy. Casey Rutter was great in goal to record the shutout while Sarah Attanasio, Kelly O’Connor and Alex Israel shut down the Southbury offense. Meagan Gonzalez and Jill Jagoe kept constant pressure on the Southbury defense.

Roadrunners 2, Newtown Rampage 1 – Shannon Paproski netted the game winner in the final minutes of this well played game. Becca Jaroszewski scored the first goal off an assist by Becca Castegner while Sarah Murtha and Kristin Stoller had great all-around games.

Roadrunners 2, Easton 0 – Casey Rutter recorded her second shutout against a high-powered Easton offense and led the Roadrunners to the Girls U11 title. Kelly O’Connor, Sarah Attanasio and Alex Israel were outstanding on defense as Kaitlin Brophy (off a great cross by Ali Pliszka) and KellyAnne Brophy (on a penalty kick) scored the goals. Meagan Gonzalez, Emma Kingsley and Jill Jagoe had great all-around games.

Boys U13

Wilton 4, Strikers 3 – Rockwell Anyoha scored a pair of goals and Kyle Moore added a goal and an assist, but the Strikers fell to Wilton. Strong offensive pressure was provided by Daniel Lynch and Aaron Nezvesky while Tony Vacaro and Alex Miller were solid on defense. Dakota Voliotes played well. Kyle Wildman had great saves in the goal.

Strikers 7, Monroe 1 – Kyle Moore, Rockwell Anyoha, Michael Renz, Daniel Lynch, Russell Morgan, Steven Zarifis and George Delia scored one goal apiece to lead the Strikers. Daniel Hufziger and Alex Miller notched assists while Michael Carrafiello played well.

Strikers 1, Ridgefield 0 – Rockwell Anyoha scored the lone goal off an assist from Aaron Nezvesky to lift the Strikers to the win. Tony Vacaro and Ryan Pasko anchored the defense while Michael Carrafiello and Daniel Hufziger kept the pressure on. George Delia played well as Kyle Wildman shut out Ridgefield in the net.

Strikers 3, Long Island Center 1 – Daniel Lynch scored a pair of goals and Kyle Moore added a solo in the Strikers’ final game of the tournament. Assists were provided by Tony Vacaro, Ryan Pasko and Alex Miller. Dakota Voliotes and Russell Morgan powered the offense while Mike Renz and Steven Zarifis played well.

Girls U12

Power 3, Danbury 0 – Ale Fuentes, Meaghan Carney and Ali Korchman had goals for Newtown in the tournament opener last Friday. Meaghan Carney and Maddy Keane had assists while Leah Barrett and Brooke Leifels played solid defense. Kendall Svanda and Stefanie Clavette shared the shut out in goal.

Power 5, Ridgefield 0 – Kelley Gaston registered a hat trick to fuel the Power offense. Jessica Jowdy and Cristina Naldini also scored for Newtown as Nora Murphy, Molly Mahony and Christina Caporale played well at midfield and Stefanie Clavette and Kendall Svanda shared the goalkeeping.

Enfield 3, Power 0 – Hannah Maret played remarkably well, shutting down Enfield’s top scorer, but the Power fell. Cassie Fallon and Abbie Keough played well at defense.

Power 2, Redding 0 – Meaghan Carney scored once and the Power took advantage of an own goal to defeat Redding. Kelley Gaston notched an assist and Nicole Davis played well at forward. Cristina Caporale and Cristina Naldini played well at midfield while Leah Barrett and Brooke Leifels anchored the D. Kendall Svanda and Stefanie Clavette had the shutout in goal.

Girls U11

Flash 2, Westport 0 – Caitlin Yakush and Stephanie Roman scored the goals in a tournament opening win against Westport. Kristen Grabowski, Christina Gould and Morgan Kirol anchored the D.

Flash 4, Newington 1 – Brittany Tolla and Kelsey Karp scored two goals apiece to pace Newtown past Newington. Kristy Papaj assisted on a goal while Bridget Power and Kelly Brooks played well. Outstanding goal keeping by Melissa Buccino and Caitlin Yakush secured the win.

Flash 5, Redding 2 – Brittany Tolla scored twice while Kelsey Karp, Kristy Papaj and Kristiana Engler scored once apiece as the Flash pounded Redding. Morgan Kirol played tough defense while Stephanie Roman played great offense. Bridget Power was solid in the midfield.

Flash 4, Easton 1 – Bridget Power scored two goals as the Flash concluded the tournament undefeated. Brittany Tolla and Stephanie Roman also scored. Tressa Scott and Julia Trudell played an aggressive game with the support of Meaghan Harkins and Jenna Hindes.

Boys U11

The Newtown Cobras captured first place in the Boys U11 division by winning three of four games. The three wins were by a combined score of 18-0. Members of the team include Christian Mather, Noah Sock, Nick Gerbo, Sean Elliott, Stephen Conway, Jack Quinn, Danny Bittman, Ian Solaski, Patrick Thornberg, Pieter Martino, Chris Erikson, Nick Barreto, Eric Fiore, Matt Rahtelli, Robert Willis, Sam Langdon, and Andrew Kelley. The team is coached by Pete D’Amico and Keith Miller

Boys U10

Bethel 2, Newtown FC 1 – Jonah Muniz scored to lone goal in a loss to Bethel. Charlie Helgren provided an assist. Strong offensive pressure came from Doug Miller and Brandon Marks. Matt Baldino and Philip Healy supported the defense well as Gabe Keogler and Sam Boland played well.

Newtown FC 0, Stonybrook 0 – Andrew Martinez and Logan Puleri led the offense while Jonah Muniz and Matt Rosa anchored the defense in a draw with Stonybrook. Jacob Moore and Charlie Helgren played well.

Wilton Blue 2, Newtown FC 0 – Charlie Helgren controlled the midfield while offensive pressure was led by Philip Healy Jacob Moore, but Wilton escaped with the win. Logan Puleri and Doug Miller played well on defense as Brandon Marks and Matt Baldino had good performances.

Newtown FC 2, Easton 0 – Jonah Muniz scored a pair of goals off assists from Charlie Helgren and Logan Puleri to lift the Newtown FC to the win. Gabe Koegler and Sam Boland provided the offensive pressure while goalies Matt Rosa and Jacob Moore shared in the shutout.

Ridgefield 3, Newtown FC 0 – Brandon Marks, Philip Healy and Andrew Martinez had good offensive showings in a loss to Ridgefield. Sam Boland, Doug Miller and Matt Baldino played well.

Girls U10

Jaguars 2, New Milford 0 – Taylor Brady powered the Jaguars to victory by scoring both goals; one coming off a pretty assist from Ali Brazos. The shutout was preserved due to excellent defense from Jaclyn Daily and Brooke Newton.

Jaguars 1, Bridgewater 1 – In a defensive struggle, Reagan Cerney was able to split the defense and sneak one past the keeper to tie up the game for the Jaguars. Lindsay Jagoe and Anna Northrop controlled the midfield in this physical contest.

Jaguars 1, Easton 0 – Karlie Kuligowski made a tremendous save off a penalty kick to preserve a Jaguars victory. Reagan Cerney knocked in the lone goal off a rebound of an Emily Grimes shot. Tess Murray hustled all over the field creating many opportunities for her teammates.

Jaguars 2, Wilton 0 – Goalkeeper Abi Kuligowski and the Newtown defense was outstanding in a win over Wilton. Taylor Brady opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game and Shannon O’Gorman added the insurance goal early in the second half. Both goals were set up by pretty passes from Angela Halili.

IN-HOUSE

Boys U14

Danbury 5, Wildfire 4 – Michael Terlaga tallied all four goals for the Wildfire and Patrick Shirley notched a key assist as the bid for a comeback fell just short. Paolo Moscovici and Chris Arnone played well in goal and Nathaniel Burns, Vinnie Brophy and Jordan Mathurin had strong games.

Boys U8

Tigersharks 6, Badgers 3 – The T-Sharks powered past the Badgers behind a four-goal effort by Michael Meyer. Constant Gregoire scored two goals and assisted on another while Anthony Vournazos notched three assists and Nick Rohrbacher and Eddie Gardner tallied one apiece. Forrest Weatherby and Joe Perkus anchored the defense. For the Badgers, Richard Ciamarra, Robert Katrinak and Keyle Watkins all scored goals. Tyler Dullinger had an all around good game.

U6

Blue Yankees 5, Nighthawks 3 – Matthew Bucci scored three goals for the Nighthawks while Jackson Fletcher and Jenna Ciavara played well offensively. Mallory Lobuglio and Calista Connors played a good all-around game.

White Sharks 4, Torpedo Blue Jays 3 – Holding off a late comeback attempt by the Torpedo Blue Jays, the White Sharks were strong in their 4-3 win, with goals by Nevan Gattey (2), Erin Nelson and Shane Gattey. Mitchell Long, CJ Shambelan and Matthew Tassiello netted one each for the Blue Jays. Strong efforts by Talia Hankin and Justin Cicarelli aided the Sharks while assisting the ‘Jays were Sophia El-Hag, Gavin Stubbs and Jillian Lasorsa.
