BCC BowlFest: Annual Fundraiser To Offer Handmade Bowls
BROOKFIELD â On Sunday, June 4, from 1 to 4 pm, Brookfield Craft Center will host BowlFest 2006, its fifth annual fundraising event. Fifty-five local artists have created more than 300 handmade one-of-a-kind bowls for the occasion.
This year, in addition to wheel-thrown ceramic bowls and lathe-turned wooden bowls, a number of kiln-fired glass bowls will also be on display. Each attendee will be able to choose and keep one of the bowls from this yearâs âcrop.â
Tickets are $50 per person and include food, drinks and live music by The Midnight Sun Jazz Quintet in addition to a bowl. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.
There will also be a silent auction, with fine craftwork contributed by more than 40 artists.
BowlFest 2006 will be held on the grounds of the centerâs historic grist mill building, which dates from 1780 and overlooks the Still River at Halfway Falls.
According to executive direction John I. Russell, âRegulars to our BowlFest events know to make a beeline to the bowl display as soon as we open at 1 pm to get first pick. BowlFest bowls are stamped with a different icon each year, which makes them sought after collectibles.â
