ATLANTA — Daisha Manfredonia, a senior at Newtown High School, recently receivd a $4,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation through its national college scholarship program.

Daisha is one of approximately 250 high school students selected from across the country this year to receive a college scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. This year, Coca-Cola Scholars were chosen from an initial applicant pool of more than 117,000 high school seniors representing more than 16,500 high schools nationwide.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, a joint effort between local Coca-Cola Bottlers and The Coca-Cola Company, is one of the largest corporate-sponsored, merit-based scholarship programs of its kind in the United States. The program recognizes exemplary high school seniors who have demonstrated academic and civic excellence in their schools and communities.

Since its inception, the Coca-Cola Scholars Program has provided nearly $18 million in college scholarship awards to more than 2,000 high school students. The program was created in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Coca-Cola and to help establish a lasting legacy of supporting the education of tomorrow’s leaders.
