This weekend is the time and Dickinson Park is the place for the semi-finals and finals of the 2000 Fleet Newtown Open Tennis Tournament.

If there is rain, the tournament will be shifted to Beaver Brook Tennis Club in Danbury. All participants are reminded to stay around to pick up their NTA t-shirt after their match. As of press time, here is the schedule for the weekend:

Saturday

 

9 am – Women’s 40 Singles (Elaurie Appelof versus Jana Barry and Lois Hoffman versus Diane Gucciardo) and Men’s 40 Singles (Ward Januzzi versus Carl Bailey and Brian Stephens versus either Owen Robertson or Marc Swanson).

10:30 am – Women’s Open Singles (Julie Sanderude versus Linda Hatcher and Judy Toth versus Deborah Eddy) and Men’s Open Singles (Joe Bouquin versus either Akash Lamba or Anthony Ditullio, and Bob Elliott versus either Al Turner or Ritush Venuogopal).

12 noon – Women’s 40 Doubles (Kathy Gibson/Virginia Payne versus Connie LaGratta/Karen Varvaro and Susan Arconti/Joyce Lee versus either Deborah Gray/Cathy LeBlanc or Bonnie Knapp/Prawphan Wildin) and Men’s 40 Doubles (Carl Bailey/Mariano Moran versus Tony Daloisio/Ferdinand Starbuck and Joe Bouquin/Ward Januzzi versus either Walter Beatty/Steven Knortz or Kevin Bennett/Bruce Ratcliffe).

1:30 pm – Women’s Open Doubles (Shirley Avril/Betsey Reid versus Teresa Kennedy/Sharon Lees and Jeanne Mead/Virginia Payne versus Laura McConnell/Julie Sanderude) and Men’s Open Doubles (Akash Lamba/Ritush Venugopal versus Gene Chappell/Tom Roesch and Bob Elliott/Owen Robertson versus either Roy Mirchandani/David Vatti or Bob Lapple/Al Turner).

3 pm – Mixed Doubles (Jean Gabriel.Randy Howie versus Lorraine Chappell/Gene Chappell and Amanda Beatty/Mariano Moran versus either Shirley Avril/Randy Sa’adh or Joan Pagliuco/Marc Swanson) and Men’s 55 Singles (Dom Nocturne versus either Ferdinand Starbuck or Stephen Olson and Jack Schrier versus either Bill Schmid or Robert Feinson).

4:30 pm – Men’s 55 Doubles (Ray Craven/Leon Barkman versus Fred Luedke and Wayne McCormack and Robert Feinson/Ed Regner versus either Jack Schrier/George Mpazicos or Jack McShara/Dom Nocturne).

Sunday

 

9 am – Consolation finals for Men’s Open Singles, Women’s Open Singles, Men’s 40 Singles, Women’s 40 Singles.

10:30 am – Finals for Men’s Open Singles, Women’s Open Singles and Men’s 40 Doubles. Consolation finals for Men’s 40 Doubles.

12 noon – Finals and consolation finals for Men’s 55 Doubles. Consolation finals for Men’s 40 Doubles and Women’s 40 Doubles.

1:30 pm – Finals of Men’s Open Doubles, Women’s Open Doubles, Men’s 40 Singles, and Women’s 40 Singles.

3 pm – Finals of Men’s 40 Doubles, Women’s 40 Doubles, and Men’s 55 Singles.

4:30 pm – Finals of Mixed Doubles. Consolation finals of Mixed Doubles and Men’s 55 Singles.
