On the heels of the destructive tornadoes and macroburst that hit western Connecticut earlier this month, Eversource began surveying high-voltage power lines in that area, May 30, checking for any damage done to the lines during the storm that may threaten electric reliability. The low flying blue andamp; gray helicopter, tail # N1431W; blue andamp; white helicopter, tail #N411DD; and blue andamp; white helicopter, tail # N206SF are looking for any tree limbs or branches that may have broken in the high winds and be in a position to potentially damage a line and cause a power outage.

The survey will continue through Friday, June 1. Weather permitting, flights are scheduled to take place between 8 am and 5 pm.

Helicopters will fly over utility rights-of-way in Bethel, Bethlehem, Bridgeport, Brookfield, Canaan, Danbury, Darien, Durham, Fairfield, Greenwich, Middlebury, Middlefield, New Milford, Newtown, Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Salisbury, Sharon, Stamford, Wallingford, Waterbury, Watertown, Weston, Wilton, Wolcott, Woodbury.

More than 400 Newtown homes and businesses remain without power following an intense February 24-25 overnight storm that carried rain, high winds and thunder across the state.
