How To Prevent Breast Cancer

A free lecture on preventing breast cancer will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 2:30 to 4 pm by clinical nutritionist Bea Gallagher at the Physical Medicine and Wellness Center, 24 Glen Road, Sandy Hook.

“Cancer takes anywhere from five to 20 years to develop and there are plenty of things you can do to prevent it,” Ms Gallagher said. “Environmental and patient population studies have identified several risk factors that increase the risk. Therefore, there is plenty a woman can do to reduce her risk of developing this terrifying disease.”

Ms Gallagher said mammograms help detect cancer early and are useful in improving the chances of successful treatment.

“However, you still have to deal with the problem and its complications,” she said. “The best medicine is prevention. Learn what you can do to balance your hormones, ways to detoxify your body, and which foods and medicinal plants help to support each process.”

Ms Gallagher works in the fields of clinical nutrition and traditional Chinese medicine. To register for the program call 426-6334.
