Occupation: I am vice president of the JP Morgan Chase Manhattan Bank. I have 28 years of banking experience. I just passed the “series 7 exam,” a six-hour test on the financial markets. I enjoyed studying for the test because the financial markets are so interesting and affect how we make business decisions.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for three years. Prior to this, I lived in White Hills in Shelton. I was born and brought up in Bridgeport. I’ve worked in Newtown for nine years, and came here originally as manager of Chase.

Biggest Change You Have Seen in Town: The people I have met in Newtown are very civic minded and are constantly trying to improve any aspect of town life that they can. Improvements are constantly made, scholastically, athletically, and culturally.

Family: I married Bill Lavery three years ago. We each contributed four children to the merger, all between the ages of 21 and 33.

Pets: We have a female cat named Max, and two granddogs, which we’re very close to, Eskimo and Patton.

Hobbies: The children, baskets, antiques, especially antique linens, and golf.

Favorite Books and Authors: I try to read the best sellers list as well as the classics. Currently I am reading Uncle Tom’s Cabin. My youngest daughter and I just completed a New England Tour of Authors’ Homes and a visit to Walden Pond.

Favorite TV Show: Antiques Road Show. I prefer the live theater. Bill and I just saw The Producers, which was very funny, but my favorite is the more serious Copenhagen.

Organizations: I am a member of Newtown Country Club and the Newtown Business and Professional Women. I am a former member of the Rotary and Huntington Historical Society.

Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: In 2001, when we had the big flags marching down the street. It was amazing we had the opportunity to get those.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Prince Edward Island. We go there every summer.

Personal Philosophy: Live every day the best you can.
