Career Center Lists Scholarships

Applications and information on the following scholarships has arrived in the Career Center at Newtown High School. For a complete list of scholarships available, check out the scholarship file in the Career Center. Call Mrs McEvoy at 426-1915 if you have any questions.

Miss Connecticut Teen USA Pageant –– This program is an excellent vehicle for advancing both personal and career goals. Each contestant will be judged in three categories consisting of Personal Interviews, Swimsuit and Evening Gown. The winner will receive a fabulous prize package, including a cash award, appearances throughout the state, and a two-week expense paid trip to compete for Miss Teen USA. Women must be between the ages of 15 and 19 as of July 1, 2004, to enter. The Pageant will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Danbury on November 21–23, 2003. Order of AHEPA Poster Contest –– American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is a fraternal organization that promotes understanding of Hellenic culture. In conjunction with the 2004 Olympic Games to be held in Greece, this organization is sponsoring a poster contest for students in grades 10–12. First place award is $800, second place is $500, and third place is $300. Winners of the district contest will move up to national competition. More details are available in the Career Center or through art teachers. All posters must be completed during September–November of the 2003–2004 school year and received no later than December 15.
