St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church has, in concert with State of Connecticut and Diocese of Bridgeport, loosened its COVID-19 guidelines.

Reservations are no longer required for those attending Mass at the 46 Church Hill Road church.

Masks are no longer required for those who are fully vaccinated.

Open seating is available, although the right wing is designated “social distancing seating” and is on a first-come, first-served basis through August. The area, according to a notice from Monsignor Robert Weiss, will be in place for those who choose social distancing or whose health is compromised.

The area will continue to have one pew empty between pews, and those choosing to sit in that area will adjust their distancing from each other.

Singing has returned, and all doors are available for entry and exit.

The sanctuary can be at full capacity, and missalettes and bulletins are again available.

Holy water fonts will remain empty.

The church’s current Mass schedule will remain in place through Friday, June 4:

Mass is celebrated:

*Saturday at 4 pm in the church, in the parking lot, and livestreamed;

*Sunday at 7:30 am (indoors), 10:30 am (indoors, in the parking lot, and livestreamed), and 5 pm (indoors); and

*Weekdays at 6:45 am (indoors) and 9 am (indoors and livestreamed).

Holy Communion is delivered to those in the parking lot by Extraordinary Ministers at the appropriate time.

As of June 5, St Rose Church will update to the following schedule:

*Saturday daily Mass at 8 am, confessions at 3 pm, and Mass at 4 (also livestreamed, and with Holy Communion available in the parking lot through August);

*Sunday, 7:30 am Mass, 9:30 am Mass (also livestreamed, and with Holy Communion available in the parking lot through August), and 11:30 am and 5 pm Mass; and

*Weekdays, Mass at 6:45 and 9 am, with the second service also livestreamed.

Adoration will be celebrated each Tuesday at 7 pm and on the third Tuesday of each month at 8 pm.

St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church began offerings parking lot Masses one year ago this month, when parishioners were first invited to celebrate services from their vehicles. The Church Hill Road recently announced loosened guidelines in concert with State of Connecticut and Diocese of Bridgeport taking similar steps. —Bee file photo
