Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Ian Gingell, 19, of Monroe went to the police station on the afternoon of May 18 and was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court, driving with a suspended license, and unsafe movement with a motor vehicle.

Police have said that that the charges stem from an incident on the night of February 3 in which they spotted Gingell driving an 1989 Chevrolet Camaro in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street, after which Gingell drove out of the parking lot onto Queen Street quickly and unsafely.

After processing on May 18, police released Gingell on $500 bail for a May 26 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Washington Avenue

About 2:27 pm on May 18, motorist Angel Salazar of Danbury, who was driving a 2010 Ford Edge on Washington Avenue, stopped for traffic conditions, after which motorist Thomas F. Zummo, Jr, of 5 Washington Hill Road, who was driving a 2001 Honda Accord, struck the rear end of the Ford, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Zummo a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Church Hill Impact

Police said that motorist Dominique Allen, 16, of Taunton Lake Road, who was driving a 1995 Jeep eastward near 51 Church Hill Road about 9:46 pm May 14, stopped to allow a noncontact vehicle to make a turn, after which the Jeep was struck from behind by an eastbound 2002 Honda driven by Susan Dowling, 50, of Lone Oak Meadows.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Dowling a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

DUI Incident

Police report they received a call about 7:17 pm on May 19 and then responded to 13 Mt Nebo Road on a report that a motor vehicle accident had occurred on private property.

While enroute to that address, police saw a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle that had been involved in the accident and which had then left the private property.

After stopping that vehicle, police investigated and charged motorist Sarah Yacovelli, 50, of 46 Queen Street with driving under the influence.

Following processing, Yacovelli was released on $500 bail for a June 2 court appearance.

Park Vandalism

Sometime between 4 pm on May 14, and 2:12 pm on May 16, someone damaged the door on a storage shed near the pavilion at Dickinson Park. It appears that the vandal kicked open that door, according to police.

Nothing inside the shed was damaged or stolen, police report.

Also, sometime between 7 am on May 18, and 7:30 am on May 19, some damaged a light bulb used in the park’s pavilion, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the criminal mischief to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Warrant

Police report they arrested Marcos Santiago, 30, of Monroe on a warrant on the afternoon of May 19, charging him with evading responsibility, driving under suspension, distracted driving, and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Police report that the arrest stems from an April 12 noninjury two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Wasserman Way, in which Santiago did not stay at the accident scene.

Police released Santiago on $1,500 bail for a June 2 court appearance.

Moving Violations

At about 6:30 pm May 20, police stopped motorist Nicholas Kinlock, 22, of Bridgeport near the intersection of South Main Street and Elizabeth Street to investigate a motor vehicle incident.

Police said they then charged Kinlock with passing on the right and with driving with a suspended license.

Kinlock was released on a written promise to appear in court on June 3.

Road Grader

At about 10:16 am on May 18, Ernest W. Ingram IV, 43, of 66 Glen Road was driving a town-owned 1988 Dresser road grader northward on Hemlock Trail and was grading that dirt road, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the grader struck an unoccupied 1992 Ford sedan that was parked in the driveway at 22 Hemlock Trail, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Ingram for making a restricted turn.

Intersection Crash

Police report a two-SUV collision at the intersection of Gelding Hill Road and Russett Road about 8:53 am May 17.

The accident involved motorist Lisa Petrovich, 48, of 9 Rockywood Drive, who was driving a 2010 Buick Enclave, and motorist Susan White, 42, of 69 Charter Ridge Drive, who was driving a 2006 Cadillac Escalade, police said.

There were no injuries. Police report they issued Petrovich a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Three Violations

At about 7:30 pm May 16, police stopped motorist Thomas C. Willis, Jr, 53, of Oxford for a motor vehicle violation near 25 Berkshire Road.

After investigating, police charged Willis with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving under suspension.

Police released Willis on a written promise to appear in court on June 2.

 

Queen Street

Police said that while on patrol near 11 Queen Street about 7 pm May 23, they stopped motorist Martin Barteski, 62, of 12 Old Mill Road after he was seen committing a motor vehicle violation.

Barteski was charged with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving and with driving under suspension, according to police. Barteski was released on a written promise to appear in court on June 11.

Subaru Vs Kia

About 8:45 am May 21, motorist Louise Howell, 55, of High Rock Road, who was driving a 2009 Kia sedan westward on Church Hill Road near Interstate 84, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Kia was hit from behind by a westbound 2010 Subaru station wagon driven by Sofia Gomes, 21, of Danbury, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police issued Gomes a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

South Main Street

According to a police report, motorist Mark Locorotondo, 55, of Melody Lane, who was driving a 2002 Honda sedan, pulled out onto the street near 81 South Main Street at about 5:30 pm on May 20, and struck a northbound 2004 Jeep SUV driven by Carolann Labouliere, 48, of Danbury.

There were no injuries. Locorotondo received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

 

Explorer Vs Explorer

An accident involving two SUVs occurred about 5:12 pm on May 19 near 63 South Main Street.

In congested conditions, northbound motorist Jana Emmerthal, 44, of 7 Oakview Road, who was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer, stopped for traffic and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist Joseph Mailloux, 39, of 24 Mountain Laurel Lane, who was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Mailloux a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

SUV Vs SUV

At about 3:48 pm on May 20, motorist Michelle Hiscavich, 47, of Bethel, who was driving a 2005 Honda CRV southward on South Main Street, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn into the driveway at 79 South Main Street, when the CRV was struck from behind by southbound motorist Sarah Fenster, 31, of Weston, who was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Fenster a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

I-84 DUI

State police report that they measured motorist Charles Speight, 25, of Milford driving 80 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone on eastbound Interstate 84 about 12:19 am on May 24, so they stopped him to investigate.

State police said they charged Speight with driving under the influence, speeding, and driving under suspension.

Speight was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges.

MV Charges

Police report they measured motorist Leila Burke, 39, of Bridgeport driving 63 miles per hour in a 40-mph zone southward on South Main Street early on the morning of May 24. Burke also passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone, police said.

Police said they attempted to stop Burke, but she continued driving.

Monroe police later found Burke in Monroe and she was then charged by Newtown police with speeding, disobeying a police officer’s signal to stop, and improper passing.

Burke is scheduled to appear on June 3 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Saturn Vs Chevrolet

About 5:55 pm on May 24, motorist Cynthia Datin, 51, of 10 Fieldstone Drive, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo sedan northward on Boggs Hill Road, stopped at a stop sign at that street’s intersection with Sugar Street, police said.

Northbound motorist Kellie Datin, 22, of 10 Fieldstone Drive, who was driving a 2008 Saturn Vue SUV, then struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.

Cynthia Datin was treated at the scene for a minor injury, police said. Kellie Datin was verbally warned for following too closely, according to police.

Burglary

Police said they learned on the afternoon of May 24 about a burglary that had occurred at a Botsford Hill Road property. The incident happened at a detached garage where a garage door panel was forced open to gain entry to the garage. Police said its is unknown if any items were stolen in the incident.
