Letter Of Endorsement
To the Editor:
Almost two years ago, Newtown voters elected a novice as our state representative. All that people knew at the time was that Chris Lyddy was hardworking and passionate about Newtown. We didnât know if he could translate those qualities into action.
Fortunately, votersâ faith in him has been rewarded by his leadership in several important pieces of legislation: an act to provide services to students with autism, a bill to improve indoor air quality standards in schools, and a bill that increases access to treatment for those with Lyme disease. In a bipartisan effort, Chris introduced and strongly advocated for a bill to protect Connecticutâs aquifers. This gives Newtown an important tool in stopping the expansion of the Housatonic Railroad in Hawleyville. When the state subsidy for the high school expansion was in question, Chris attended numerous subcommittee meetings to make sure Newtown didnât lose this money. As a member of the Parent Connection Board of Directors, Chris continues his commitment to Newtown youth and their parents at the local level.
Any questions voters may have had two years ago about Chris Lyddyâs maturity and ability to do the job have been answered. He is knowledgeable, extremely capable, hardworking, and dedicated to Newtown. Iâm honored to support his candidacy to represent Newtown in Connecticutâs General Assembly.
Sincerely,
Jan Lee Brookes
