Quality Dental of Danbury 9, Newtown Pools 2: Jimmy Davis smashed a home run and Ryan Williams had three runs batted in, leading the offense, while Derrick Lewis and John Albanesi pitched shutout innings for the defense. Shane Demrs and Alex Katsuleres played well for Newtown pools.
Quality Dental of Danbury 5, My Place Restaurant 3: Cole Demirjian and Ryan Burns threw four strikeouts each and Matthew Menosek, Ryan Williams, and James Chillington had clutch hits during a 3-run rally that sparked Quality Dental to victory. Rolt McIntyre and Jamie Hobar provided big hits to keep the game close for My Place.

Newtown Thunder 4, Ridgefield Tigers 0: Lucas OâBrien, Ben Dieckman, Jason Hebner, and Colby Olson combined to shut down the Tigers of Ridgefield. Sam Grossano, Ben Harrison, and Nick Venezia all played a solid game for the Thunder. Connor Barrett threw two runners out from behind the plate.
Newtown Thunder and their counterparts Newtown Nasty next play in the âNasty Thunder Stormâ Memorial Day tournament starting Sunday and ending Monday. All games will be played at Sandy Hook School and at Liberty field. Teams from New Hampshire, Wilton, and Stratford will be participating all weekend long.

MSR Music 8, Whitlock Cabinetworks 7: The much-awaited first place game was not a disappointment to the crowd of 100-plus at Treadwell Park under the lights on Friday night. Nick âWalk Offâ Venezia ended his second game this year with a single to vault the Music Makers pass the Cabinetmakers in a well-played game. Colby Olson tripled and led the Musicmen while Lucas Oâbrien played well for Whitlocks nine.
Grimes Times 7, Attorney Buzzi 7: Ben Harrison lined a single to right to score two with two outs in the last inning and Sam Grossano nailed down the side to preserve a hard-fought draw. Ryan Beechey had two hits and Adam Beckett pitched well for Grimes Times.
Royâs Auto 14, CT Ear, Nose and Throat 11: Will Huegi and Rob Lombardo played well for the Doctors in defeat, while Jack Bittman lined a hard triple with the bases loaded to lead the Mechanics. Greg Brissette and Graham Dowd played well for Royâs
Sal e Pepe Express 6, Stratton Faxon 2: Player of the weekend Danny Fore led the fast moving Express to victory, while Sean Wallace led the lawmen in defeat.
Sal e Pepe Heroes 6, Royâs Auto 4: Harry Eppers pitched three scoreless innings of one-hit ball and Rhett Saunders nailed down the victory for his first save of the season. Eric Hrabczak doubled in a run for the Heroes. Kenny Malin stayed hot with two more hits and Greg Brissette blasted a triple for the Mechanics in defeat.

Newtown Base Technologies 3, Ridgefield Fairfield County Bank 2: Newtown pitchers John Lebinski, Dean Demers, Mario Pizighelli, and Kaleb Rowe struck out 11 batters and yielded just five hits Saturday at Newtown Middle School Field. Newtown jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead. Alex Romeo drilled a single up the middle, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored when Austin Raftery grounded an RBI single to right field. Demers followed with a line single to left, and Ben Stoller smacked a sharp RBI single through the left side. Ridgefield tied the game in the second inning on a double, a walk and two errors. Newtownâs winning run came in the fourth inning when Romeo walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and groundout, and scored on the pitcherâs errant pick-off attempt. Pizighelli struck out two consecutive batters in the sixth inning to get out of a jam with runners on second and third. Rowe matched the same feat in the seventh inning to get the save.
Ridgefield Union Savings Bank 6, Newtown Base Technologies 4: Newtown bounced back from a 4-0 deficit but never got a lead Sunday at Ridgefieldâs East Ridge Field. Newtown cut the lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning when Ben Stoller reached on a two-base error, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a hard-hit ground single up the middle by Dean Demers. In the fifth inning, Kaleb Rowe singled up the middle, and Mario Pizighelli walked. They scored on a two-base throwing error by the Ridgefield third baseman. Newtownâs final run came home when Austin Raftery singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a long Demers double to left center. Stoller and John Lebinski threw shutout innings to keep Newtown close in the final two frames. Newtown registered one double play after Demers beautifully hauled in a drive to center. He threw high to second base, but Stoller left the mound to back up the play near shortstop and flipped to second baseman Ryan Errico to erase the Ridgefield runner trying to scramble back to the base.
