 St Rose Athletes On Track

The St Rose School track and field team won a tri-team meet against St Joseph School of Brookfield and St Mary School of Ridgefield at Immaculate High School in Danbury this past week.

St Rose scored 546 points, just 15 points ahead of second place St Joseph. Those who won first-place medals are:

Girls — Grades 7 & 8: Kaitlyn Sugarman, 100 (15.13). Grades 5 & 6: Molly Begg, 1600 (6.03.13, school record), 800 (2.57.06 school record), Marina Renzi, 400 (1.17.03), Anna Brubaker, 100m (15.79), Grades 3 & 4: Audrey Sedensky, 50 (10.12), 400 (1.21.45 school record), Sabrina Hartz, broad jump (5-6). Grades K, 1, & 2: Rebecca Racz, 400 (1.38.53), 200 (37.73 school record), broad jump (5-4).

Boys — Grades 7 & 8: Jack Brubaker, 100 (13.94 school record), 400 (1.10.01 school record), Matt Kendziorski, shot put (27-4 school record). Grades 5 & 6: Alex Gerbo, 200 (31.40 school record), long jump (12-7), Tony Leonardi, 1600 (6.38.38 school record). Grades 3 & 4: Matt Gerbo, 200 (30.88 school record). Grades K, 1, & 2: Joe Rios; softball throw (101-0 school record), Steven Sedensky, 200 (38.48), Richard Bomely, Broad Jump 4-11.

Others setting St Rose School age group records during the regular season included: Caitlyn Keane, 200 (31.72), Victoria Kirkman, 200 (32.34), Tony Leonardi, 800 (3.07.75), Matt Gerbo, 800 (3.09.07), Kaitlyn Sugarman, softball throw (81-3), shot put (20-6), Bridget Duero, softball throw (99-7), Isabella Jimenez, softball throw (74-10), and Molly Begg, long jump (11-8).

The St Rose girls’ and boys’ track team, which started in 2008, will participate in its season-ending parochial league championship meet at the end of May.
