World War II Memorial
Stamp Issue May 29
MONROE â The US Postal Service will issue a 37-cent National World War II Memorial commemorative stamp in a self-adhesive sheet of 20 on May 29. The memorial, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., also will be dedicated that day. The Stevenson Post Office will hold a special open house in conjunction with this release. Postmaster Jody Raymond invites the public to stop in and share in the honoring of the achievements and ideas of Americans who proudly served their country. Veterans are especially welcome, she said.
Refreshments will be served between 8 am and noon. The post office also will have available for sale a variety of patriotic teddy bears, lapel pins, magnets, and dog tags in addition to the stamp.
The post office is on Cottage Street, one-fourth mile from the junction of Route 111 and Route 34, adjacent to the Stevenson Fire Company and across from the Stevenson Lumber Company.
Postmaster Raymond welcomes any questions, comments or suggestions to make the Memorial Day celebration a success. She can be reached at 268-5354.
