Robert Wayne King, 79, of Yardley, Penn., died May 23, in his home, with the love and support of his family and home hospice team. He was born in Bridgeport, June 29, 1935, to Esther and Edward King. He was an only child. He has a great relationship with his uncle and cousins who live in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Joan and Bob King were married in 1956 and moved to Sandy Hook in 1958, to a home that Joan’s father built for them on Paugussett Road. Joan King predeceased Mr King in December 2014.

They were very involved in the Newtown community. They were members of St Rose Catholic church for many years, and their two daughters graduated from elementary school there. His loving wife taught in the Newtown school system for 25 years, and was a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary for a number of years.

The Kings were very active in the Marriage Encounter Community in Newtown, and have been friends with the other families there for more than 40 years.

Through their Marriage Encounter relationships with the priests and other couples, they became lifelong  members of St Ann’s Melkite Church in Danbury, and were involved in the national meetings and conventions.

Mr King graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from University of Bridgeport, and with an MBA from University of New Haven. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft for 25 years before moving to Milwaukee, Wis., to be the corporate director of telecommunications at Allen Bradley Corporation. They moved to Yardley when Mr King worked for the State of New Jersey as a technical contractor and consultant, and then in New York City as corporate director of telecommunications at Leslie Fay.

Mr King joined the real estate team of Joan King, Bruce and Sally Witt; and they eventually opened their own real estate company. He used his engineering background to work with the inspectors, permits, and technical requirements for the clients’ transactions.

Mr King was noted for being brilliant his entire life, and also displayed creativity and artistic talent through photography, video, drawing, and painting. He loved technology and researched the genealogy of his family and his wife’s, as well. He was able to verify his background all the way to the Mayflower, and certified his daughters and grandchildren as well.

He is survived by two loving daughters, Sally King Witt and Lisa King Berendsohn; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Joseph. The Kings were extremely close with their son-in-law Bruce Witt. They all lived together in a home that they designed and built for their multigenerational family.

A private memorial service will take place at the family’s home, for both Bob and Joan, to celebrate their lives.

Memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, helping families that cannot afford to have a funeral or services for their loved one, at 333 North Summit Street, PO Box 10086, Toledo OH 43699-0086 or at http://heartlandhospicefund.org/.
