High Speeds
State police said they charged a man with four motor vehicle offenses after they spotted him driving an unspecified vehicle at high speeds on westbound Interstate 84 about 9 pm on May 17.
State police said they spotted Ronald Ruesch, 20, of Woodbury traveling 124 miles per hour on westbound I-84, after which they used their emergency lights and sirens in attempting to stop him.
Ruesch, however, increased his speed, state police said. Ruesch then drove off the Exit 11 off-ramp, crossed over the interchangeâs median divider and entered the I-84 on-ramp to get back onto westbound I-84, state police said.
State police said they stopped Ruesch east of the Exit 10 interchange.
Ruesch was charged with reckless driving, reckless driving over 85 mph, disobeying the signal of a police officer, and improper use of a limited access highway. Ruesch was released on $500 bail for a June 13 court appearance.
Trespassing Violations
Police report that while on patrol about 1:40 am May 23, they spotted four people illegally on private property at 72 Alberts Hill Road, near Lake Lillinonah. Police said they issued all four people infractions for simple trespassing.
Receiving those tickets were: Jason Way, 21, of 77 Alberts Hill Road; and three people from Southbury â Coryn Maloney, 19; Hanny Betancourt, 20; and Colin Goyette, 19, police said. Those receiving the tickets may either pay fines of appeal the violations.
DUI Incident
Police report they stopped a motorist near 20 Church Hill Road about 10 pm on May 19 to investigate.
During the investigation, police said they used their German shepherd to search for drugs.
Police charged motorist Kentwan Chappell, 27, of Bridgeport with driving under the influence, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, failure to drive to the right, and making a restricted turn.
Police charged passenger Akeem Gathers, 21, of Bridgeport with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.
Each person was released on $100 bail for June 2 court appearances, police said.
Breach Of Peace
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Claudio Basso, 51, of Woodbury went to the police station on the evening of May 20 and was charged with breach of peace, police said.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred at a local business on April 18, police said. Basso was released on a written promise to appear in court on June 2.
Button Shop Crash
Motorist Rocco Laudato, 19, of Monroe was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt westward near 9 Button Shop Road about 12:15 pm May 17, when a deer entered the road, police said.
Laudato swerved to avoid the animal, but he went off the right road shoulder, struck a rock, and spun about, with the vehicle then landing on its driverâs side, police said. Laudato was not injured. Police said they verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.
Queen Street
On May 19, motorist Alex Magoulas, 21, of 4 Bishop Circle, who was driving a 1995 Honda Civic coupe northward on Queen Street, was making a left turn into a residential driveway at 48 Queen Street, when the Honda was struck from behind by a northbound 2003 Mercedes-Benz ML-350 SUV driven Jeanette Telias, 46, of Westport, police said.
Police said ambulance volunteers evaluated Magoulas for a pain complaint. Police said they issued no enforcement in the incident.
Warrant
Newtown police said that Naugatuck police detained a Naugatuck man for them on May 22 after learning that Newtown police held a warrant for his arrest.
Newtown police said they charged Darin Poole, 48, of Naugatuck with fourth-degree larceny in connection with a Newtown incident reported to them last August 16 in which Poole allegedly defrauded a person of money.
Police said they held Poole on bail for a May 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Case
Police said that after receiving a complaint about erratic driving about 10 pm May 22, they stopped motorist Laura Ingala, 32, of 10 Fern Lane on Wasserman Way to investigate.
Police said they charged Ingala with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right. Later, after an incident at the police station, police also charged Ingala with interfering with police.
Police said they released Ingala on $400 bail for a June 7 court appearance.
I-84 DUI
State police said they received a complaint late on the morning of May 20 concerning a motorist who was driving erratically on westbound Interstate 84.
State police said they located the vehicle in question and investigated, charging motorist Nancy Lombard, 63, of Brookfield with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane. Lombard was released on $750 bail for a June 6 court appearance, state police said.
Off The Road
Motorist Joseph Feldman, 27, of Hamden was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu in the left lane of two lanes on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, about 7:25 am on May 18, when he lost control of the auto, went across the right lane and then traveled down an embankment, state police said.
Feldman was not injured. Enforcement information was not available.

Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Santiago Vallejo, 26, of Derby went to the police station on the evening of May 23 and was charged with making a false statement and interfering with police, according to police.
Police said that Vallejo allegedly made a false statement to them about a motor vehicle accident in which he was involved in early February on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Liberty Drive.
After processing, police released Vallejo on $100 bail for a June 7 court appearance.
 Honda Vs Jeep
About 3:38 pm on May 6, motorist Richard Grant, 46, of Bethel, who was driving a 2008 Honda CRV northward on South Main Street, near Sugar Street, struck the rear bumper of a stopped 2011 Jeep Laredo driven by Dean Fattibene, 39, of 50 Underhill Road, police said. Â
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Grant a written warning for following too closely.
NHS Drugs
After learning that police held an arrest warrant, a Newtown High School student turned himself/herself over to police at the police station on the afternoon of May 24 and was arrested on three charges in connection with an April 26 incident at the school, according to police.
Police allege that the student who was arrested sold tobacco and unspecified prescription drugs to another student. Police said they arrested the youth on charges of sale of tobacco to a minor, misrepresentation of a substance, and sale of a prescription drug.
After processing, police released the arrested student on a written promise to appear in court on June 6. Because the arrested student is under age 18, state law shields the youthâs identity from public disclosure by police.
Drug Arrest
Police report that after stopping a motorist on Washington Avenue about 2 pm May 24, they investigated and charged the youth driving the vehicle with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Additional investigation resulted in police charging the youth with driving with a defective tire and with failure to have a functioning brake lamp.
Following processing, police released the youth on a written promise to appear in court on June 6. Because the arrested student is under age 18, state law shields the youthâs identity from public disclosure by police.

Burglary/Larceny
Sometime between 4 pm on May 24 and 7 am on May 25, someone illegally entered Kingâs Breakfast & Lunch, a restaurant at 271 South Main Street, and stole several unspecified items, according to police. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the crime to contact the police detective unit at 203-426-5841.
BMW Vs Toyota
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of South Main Street and Country Club Road about 3:54 pm on May 23, police report.
Motorist Lilla Dean, 73, of 14 Old Hawleyville Road was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla sedan southward on South Main Street, as motorist Matthew Stankey, 52, of New Fairfield was driving a 2006 BMW 750-IL sedan northward there, police said.
The BMW then attempted to make a left turn onto Country Club Road, but collided with the Toyota, police said. There were no injuries, according to police. Stankey received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.
