After learning that police held an arrest warrant, a Newtown High School student turned himself/herself over to police at the police station on the afternoon of May 24 and was arrested on three charges in connection with an April 26 incident at the school, according to police.
Police allege that the student who was arrested sold tobacco and unspecified prescription drugs to another student. Police said they arrested the youth on charges of sale of tobacco to a minor, misrepresentation of a substance, and sale of a prescription drug.
After processing, police released the arrested student on a written promise to appear in court on June 6. Because the arrested student is under age 18, state law shields the youthâs identity from public disclosure by police.
