Wildcats 2, Blue Breeze 0: The Wildcats and Blue Breeze played an exciting match with both sides demonstrating strong ball control and passing skills. Kaley Meisenheimer and Shauna Tucker both found the back of the net in a well-balanced Wildcat attack, with Isabella Butler and Laura Augenbraun making key passes to set up the goals, each earning an assist. Erin Phaneuf and Molly Sullivan demonstrated strong ball control while playing a strong all-around game. Rylee Harrell and Ruby Rose Rankin led a stingy Wildcats defense turning away numerous Blue Breeze attacks. The Blue Breeze played a tenacious game, displaying equal parts heart, hustle and skill. Olivia Buchler, Mary Celentano and Sophia Bajcer led several offensive charges. A stellar defensive effort was anchored by Corrin Bottom, Gabriella Sadowski, Morgan Seras and Natalene Sim. Emma Magazu and Katie Stan were outstanding in goal, making several spectacular saves.

Dynamites 5, New Canaan 1: It looked as though it would be a competitive contest, but the Dynamites went on to score five unanswered goals after allowing the first goal. Lu Hage started the scoring with a dribble right down the middle of the field. Lauren Carrino, Katie Sailer, Keeley Kortze, Brooke Antous and Rebecca Gavel all had shots for the Dynamites. Carrino was the next to find the back of the net with Gavel scoring soon after. In the second half, Jenna Lavelle, Lauren Carrino, Ali Kelleher and Keeley Kortze all had shots with Grace Corcoran finally scoring a goal. Strong defense by Corcoran, Lavelle, Hage and Kelleher limited New Canaanâs play on Newtownâs half. With not much time left, Lavelle passed the ball from the midfield to the offense where the ball was bobbled by the New Canaan goalie, and Kelleher netting the rebound. Goalies for this game were Lavelle and Sailer.
Golden Eagles 5, Dynamite 1: Emma Curtis celebrated her birthday in style with another hat trick for the Golden Eagles. Nina Henriques lined a penalty kick into the corner for her first career goal after moving to the offensive side of the game. Zoe Freedman also scored as the Golden Eagle offense were firing on all cylinders. The Dynamite was never discouraged though and fought back in the second half to get on the board with a beautiful pass from Sage Karp to Sarah Tressler that exploded into the Eagles nest. Alexis Fortugno and Madeline Ceci never let their fire out as they covered the pitch tirelessly and kept the Dynamite lit.
Dynamite 1, Smurfs 0: Dynamite forward Merije DeWit scored the lone goal to give the Dynamite the victory. Tori Keayes, Jenna Gonski and Briana Castellano played outstanding games to help secure the win. Smurfs offense had their opportunities but shots went wide. Carolina Stubbs and Jenna Ehnot provided some power and excitement but could not ripple the net. âRooster Runnersâ Claire Dubois, Brianna Lovely and Julia Clark played well in the loss.

Newtown Breeze 5, Fairfield 0: Sarah Houle got Newtown off to a good start, scoring early in the first half against Fairfield. Samantha Crespo, Cassidy Kortze and Natalie Kelchner also added goals for Newtown. Erin Tressler and Savannah Mather moved the ball exceptionally well for Newtown, while Maggie Beardsley and Jacklin Gouveia were instrumental in keeping Fairfield scoreless. Colleen McCarthy and Natalie Kelchner combined in goal for the shut-out.
Newtown Breeze 3, Old Greenwich 1: Newtown tallied a definitive win against Old Greenwich, relying on the strong offensive line of Marcella Daily, Samantha Crespo and Natalie Kelchner. Ashley Santore and Lauren King were solid defensively, allowing just one goal late in the game. The win puts Newtown in second place in their division of the Southwest District, with a record of 3-1-2.
Trumbull 6, Newtown 2: A beautiful goal by Isabelle Jimenez gave the Panthers an early lead against Trumbull on Sunday. The Panthers played as a team in their effort to fend off the former state champions. Mary Hufziger showed great hustle and excellent footwork, while Kira âHot Handsâ Kelly made incredible saves defending the goal in the first half. Greta Staubly read the field well and supported the Panthersâ defensive efforts along with Catherine Shaw. Audrey Sedensky showed her footwork and intelligent play in pushing back Trumbullâs offense. Juliette Grover never let up on the offensive pressure with a shot on goal in the second half. Maria Ringes made an impact both on the field and in the goal, as she, too, defended the goal with epic saves. Charli Condon connected with Alexis Mason for a goal in the second half. Mason, Jimenez and Grover all kept the pressure on Trumbull with shots on goal.

Newtown Dynamite 2, New Canaan 1: In their first home game of the spring season the Newtown Dynamite earned a win. In a tightly-contested match Newtown scored midway through the first period on a free kick by Amanda Albanesi. Newtown continued to have numerous scoring chances led by the hard work of Lauren Cirone and Cassidy Keller. Newtown held onto the 1-0 lead until late in the second half. Knowing that time was critical, Newtown stepped up its offensive attack. Ashling Sugarman and Alexandra Manoni helped create numerous scoring chances. Finally the tie was broken on a goal by Mallory Lobuglio. Newtownâs defense led by Katie Elkins held New Canaan at bay the rest of the way.
Newtown Thunder 0, Westport 0: Newtown remained undefeated in league play, surviving yet another defensive battle. Steph Carr and Meghan Doyle were again impregnable in goal, with staunch support provided by defenders Julia Sughrue and Meghan Kelleher. Midfielders Jess Maturo, Ali Manfredi and Kendra Dunnigan played well at both ends of the field, consistently beating the opposition to loose balls.

Chaos 3, Oompah Loompas 1: For the Chaos, Jesse Sailer had two goals and Sierra Mather had one. Alex Dittrich and Ashley Marks were credited each with an assist. Anna Baxter and Margot Elkins combined with the rest of the defense to hold the opponent to a lone goal. Danielle Aguguliaro and Morgan Goldstein provided the midfield play to secure the win. Grace Frost scored the Oompah Loompasâs goal. Abby Winters and Joanelle Tran played a strong midfield game moving the ball up the field, creating scoring opportunities for Andrea Rodiguez and Tessa Leon-Gambetta. Madeline Martin and Callie Kraushaar anchored the defense.

U8
Nighthawks 1, MadMen 1: The Nighthawksâ offense was led by Tanner Trede and Andrew Bazuro, who set up their teammates well, including Duncan OâLeary who scored the lone Nighthawk goal. Midfielders Jack Petersen, Jake Anthony and Jake Mailloux hustled all game and had plenty of defensive help from Colin Zhang and Max Cruwys-Hayes. For the MadMen, Marlon Medina and Johnathan Taylor were outstanding in goal, making many key saves. William Tainter-Gilbert and Chris Shaker were all over the field sacrificing their bodies on defense to keep the Nighthawks out of the goal. Ethan Parsons and Brandon Akbas played great on offense, while Tucker DuPuy showed great determination following up his own shot to score the game tying goal.
Warriors 4, Knights 1: The Warriors recorded their first win of the season. Neil Kalra scored on a breakaway in the first quarter and Johnathan Radatovich added a second goal with a high shot to the back of the net in the third. Early in the fourth quarter Charlie Graven was able to beat two defenders and the keeper to net the third goal for the Warriors. Providing great goalie play in the fourth quarter was Ryan Kraus who blocked shot after shot as the Knights brought their best efforts to score with time running out. First half play was highlighted by relentless offensive effort from Jackson Reinhart, DJ Bobowick and Colden Bobowick. For the Knights, Julian Totir was masterful in goal, Cameron Audet heroically defended his team from the opponentâs massive offense. Aidan Finnegan once again demonstrated stellar moves and scored the Knightsâ only goal.
Vipers 4, Team Eleven 1: Bryce Benson, Daniel Delia, CJ Cuomo, and Jake Pare scored goals for the Vipers. Brandon Manka moved the ball up the field and made some accurate passes to Nick Preszler. Ryan Poupon played hard on defense, keeping the attempts on goal to a minimum, but John Sullivan was always ready ingoal for whatever came his way.

Flying Squirrels 2, Thunder 2: An exciting game between two well-matched teams. The Flying Squirrelâs Nick Weiland and Robert Disibio each scored goals with fantastic long shots, while Todd Peterson and Trey Hazard had some great saves in the goal. For the Thunder, Kyle Gaynor and Kyle Duval played well on offense and each fired a nice shot into the net. James Belden supported the attack with strong midfield play. Daniel Reilly and Tyler Gaynor provided solid defense, with an awesome save by Tyler covering for the goalie.
Greenwich 4, Newtown Strikers 3: The first half saw Thomas Hartley make some more nice saves in goal, especially a tough one that was just below the crossbar until he deflected it. Aiden Schmid again spent time pushing the ball forward away from the Newtown goal, with help from Issac Silverman and Sean Connor. Colin Dunn had a nice breakaway in the Greenwich half and tied the score with a solid shot. In the second half, Colin Dunn made a clear pass to Tyler Dickinson who finished with a solid goal, putting Newtown ahead. A second shot by Dickinson hit the post and bounced in, extending the lead. Harvey Long was putting a lot of pressure at the offensive goal, ready for a shot or rebound. Newtown was missing a couple of key players, with Miles Martiska and Cory Furrier working hard to make up for it. The tough pressure from Greenwich, however, took its toll in the last few minutes as they pulled ahead for the win.
Newtown Vipers 4, Southbury 1: Southbury started off strong scoring an early goal which just slipped by CJ Trivers. Adam Farley scored second to put Newtown back into the game. Minutes after, Farley ripped the ball past the keeper for a second consecutive goal. All that was on his mind was to score one more goal to accomplish scoring a hat-trick. The defense of the Vipers, Jackson Dooley, Danny Schreiber, and Sean Arnold mimicked a brick wall letting the opponents hit the target only six times. Coming into the half ahead, the deadly Vipers kept the ball mostly on the opponentâs half of the field. Henry Vaughan, Jack McDermott, and Owen Sullivan dominated the ball which led to midfielder Declan Sughrue scoring his second goal of the season. As the game was coming to a close, Dylan Sock scored a goal.

Newtown Rovers 8, Weston Blue 2: Thomas Skrejka got the Rovers out in front during the first minute of play with a goal after receiving a beautiful pass by Henry Petrillo. After two near misses by Santiago Forero, Skrejka buried a shot for another goal. After a near miss by Danny Arneth, Skrejka scored his third goal of the match, set up by Henry Petrillo. Not to miss out on the action Grant Moxham scored the fourth goal of the half for the Rovers. Aidan OâLeary continued to drive the ball at the Weston net. After a fumble by the Weston goalie, Christian Adam hit a bullet into the back of the net for the Rovers. Finally with a few minutes remaining in the first half, Danny Arneth hit a rocket during a breakaway. In the second half, Colin Koegler was stopped on a good penalty kick try. JT Lewis had a shot on goal which required another great save by the Weston goalie. Skrejka scored his fourth goal of the match for Rovers after driving past two Weston defenders. Santiago Forero scored the final goal on a penalty kick. Dennis Timmons was a force to be reckoned with in the striker position.
Newtown Netrippers 1, Greenwich 0: After a traffic delay and lightning interruption, Newtown pulled out a win against a jet-lagged Greenwich squad. Nick Harper had the lone goal, assisted by a lightning strike that ended the battle. CJ Trivers, with help from the great Hunter Procaccini and James Battleaxe Barden, didnât allow a goal. Mightly Matt Gerbo and Beastly Brendan OâHara were fierce, with Rockinâ Ryan Brello scaring the storms away.
Newtown Netrippers 4, Norwalk 2: With Magic Mark Hall and Amazinâ Aiden Ford guarding goal, Newtown dominated a powerful Norwalk squad. Evan Canât-Touch-This Eggleston and Hungry Hunter Procaccini were standouts on defense and midfield, with Grant Lightning Larson burying one goal and handing an assist to Mighty Matt Gerbo. Nick Hello-Harper and Beastly Brendan OâHara each grabbed a goal, set up by by Jumpinâ Josh Harper and Superslick Silas Decker.
U14
A-Team 3, Purple Penguins 2: In his coaching debut Frankie Biancardi guided the A-Team to a 3-2 win over the Purple Penguins. Led by an offensive explosion from Sawyer Conrad with three goals, the A-Team improved their record to 5-1. Tommy Shaker had a solid game in goal, while Casper DeWit, Michael Biancardi, Maks Koziol controlled the midfield. Patrick Olah and Lucas Palumbo played a solid defensive game. For the Purple Penguins, Matt Hess had a score and Ryan Szalay converted on a late penalty kick to keep the game tight.
