Friends Of Music Announce 2011-12 Board
Newtown Friends of Music conducted their annual meeting on May 17, celebrating the conclusion of the 33rd season of âexquisite music â superbly performed.â Members heard the all-inclusive Report of the Directors, the Annual Financial Report given by the treasurer, and elected a new slate.
Ellen Parrella was reelected to serve as president and program chair.
Mrs Dorothea S. LaBelle, a longtime supporting member and director of Newtown Friends of Music, was elected to the position of Treasurer. David Luessenhop was elected vice president and chair of the membership committee. William C. Timmel will continue as the groupâs secretary.
Also re-elected to serve on the board were Lea Attanasio, Michel Dolivo, Paul Gehrett, Lea Kinstler, and Joan Popovic.
Newly elected to the board were Kaia M. Fahrenholz and Robert L. Shohet.
Immediately following the annual meeting the group went to work on the 2011-12 season, which will consist of six concerts, one each in September, October, November, February, March and April. The seasonâs opening concert will coincide with the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 disaster and will feature a composition commissioned for just this occasion.
Also in the works is a cello recital by the cellist Carter Brey, a concert of music as played at the court of Versailles performed on original instruments, and, among others, a return engagement of guitarist Jason Vieaux with the Escher String Quartet.
