Become Part Of The Process

To the Editor:

It really is “Nicer in Newtown.” This community is a unique tapestry of people and natural and cultural resources that is vibrant and always changing. Because of our town’s growth, its evolutionary changes and the ways in which the state and federal governments interact with us, make policy, issue mandates, and provide funding, many local changes involve making difficult decisions.

Every two-years — 2011 being such a year — part of our changing landscape includes local elections. In November, we will come together as a community to elect or reelect representatives we believe will do or continue to do their best, by serving the interests of the majority of Newtown residents.

The Newtown Republican Town Committee invites you to be part of the action!

Do you believe in smaller, more efficient, less intrusive government? Are you fiscally conservative? Do you believe in personal responsibility and less regulation? Are you willing to challenge the status quo and help find creative solutions to multifaceted issues? Can you devote a few hours a month to interpreting your community’s vision and have the conviction advocate accordingly?

If you answered yes to the above, we want to speak with you, provide an opportunity to learn more and perhaps become part of the process. The time is now. There are many ways you can make a difference in local affairs and add a fresh, positive perspective to how we see and address local issues.

No political experience? No problem! Among RTC ranks, we have the experience, the people, and resources to help you learn the process, from the inside and out. Our team of current and former selectmen, councilpersons, Board of Education, Board of Finance members, Planning & Zoning and police commissioners, town clerks, registrars and others can answer your questions and guide you.

From great schools to our one-of-a-kind flagpole; the breath-taking view from Castle Hill to our iconic rooster; from 302 Chocolate Moo ice cream to you and every other member of our community; there are thousands of reasons why it is “Nicer in Newtown.” If you share our love of this community and our desire to keep it strong and viable, please reach out and call or e-mail us: Dennis Bloom, 203-270-7703, dbloom1205@aol.com; Mitch Bolinsky, 203-364-0287, mbolinsky@earthlink.net; Carey Schierloh, 203-270-1742, cschierloh@gmail.com.

Let’s talk!

Sincerely,

Dennis Bloom, chair

Mitch Bolinsky, vice chair

Carey Schierloh, secretary

Republican Town Committee
