Former Borough Candidate Faces DUI Charge
State police said motorist Victor Krochta, 51, of 8 The Boulevard was driving a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville sedan eastward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, about 12:11 am May 21, when the vehicle went off the right road shoulder and struck a rocky embankment, becoming stuck in place.
Krochta complained of minor pain in his left shoulder, but refused medical attention, state police said. Krochta had been wearing a safety belt when the accident occurred, state police said.
On investigating the accident, state police arrested Krochta on charges of driving under the influence and making an improper turn.
The automobile received moderate front-end damage and was towed away.
After posting $1,000 bail, state police released Krochta for a June 6 court appearance.
Earlier this month, Mr Krochta unsuccessfully challenged longtime incumbent Borough Warden Joan Crick in borough elections.
