Shoot To Thrill: Red Cross To Host A Pool Tournament
DANBURY â Whether you are a skilled player who can run the table like Minnesota Fats, or an enthusiastic amateur with a competitive edge, thereâs nothing like the excitement of tournament pool. The American Red Cross of Western Connecticut will host its first annual pool tournament at Boston Billiard Club, June 23-25, and is inviting pros, semi-pros and novices to shoot it out for fun, prizes and a good cause.
The festivities begin Friday, June 23, with a reception for players and their guests at 7:30 pm. The tournament itself begins Saturday, June 24, and run through Sunday, June 25. The start time for both days is 9 am.
Prizes include a golf foursome at Ridgewood Country club, Sunday brunches for two, gift certificates, and a mountain bike.
There will be numerous contests during the tournament, such as an 8 Ball Break, 3 Ball and Longest Run. Players and their guests will also have the opportunity to bid on tournament items during a silent auction. Prizes and raffles will be given away throughout the tournament.
âWe are extremely fortunate to have the support of Boston Billiards and the Housatonic Valley Tourism District for this exciting event,â said Michael Malone, director of development for the Western Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross. âThe tournament will have a great party atmosphere with delicious food, and lots of fun for amateurs, pros and people who appreciate a good game of pool.â
The tournament offers ideal ways for companies and individuals to show their support for Western Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross:
For a Platinum sponsorship of $1,000, donors can register eight players, and will receive a special recognition award, space for their company banner, which will be displayed throughout the tournament, room for wall signs, a program listing, and media recognition.
For a $500 Gold sponsorship, donors can register four players, receive a special recognition award, space for their company banner, room for wall signs, a program listing, and media recognition.
Donors opting for a $250 Silver sponsorship receive space for a wall sign, a mention in the program and recognition in any publicity for the event.
As a $100 or Bronze donor, contributors will receive registration for one player, space for a table tent sign, a program listing, and media recognition.
Support for individual players is available for $60. Patrons who make a donation of $50 to the tournament will receive space for a wall sign.
Proceeds raised from the tournament will benefit the ongoing programs and services provided by the Western Connecticut Chapter.
