To the Editor:

I would like to respectfully respond to a recent letter published in the “The Letter Hive” May 19, 2023, which was written by Linda O’Sullivan of Sandy Hook.

Linda stated that I had “spoken not once, but twice, in favor of banning books during Board of Ed meetings.”

I am not sure where she got her information, but anyone who knows me, knows that I would not encourage the banning of books. Nor do I think anyone that has been accused of banning books has ever used that term.

If Linda would care to hear for herself what I said, she can listen to the video recording for the April 4th meeting at about the 2:25:16 mark and for the April 18th meeting at about the 2:11:30 mark.

If she is not able to do that I would be more than willing to send her a copy of the written words that I spoke for both meetings.

I guess what really bothers me is the number of people that assume that what they have been told, and then when it is in the printed form, it is always assumed “it must be true.”
