Thursday Menâs League
A full field of 33 came to play to overcome newly-claimed winner Mike Lally, who led the field last week. Lally came to play however, shooting one of his best rounds of the year and taking back to back Menâs League championship honors.
Ladies Day
Participants of the opening Ladies Day tourney enjoyed the beautiful weather and an even hole format. Coming in first place was Marty McBride with a 51, followed by Jayne Dubraski with a 52.
One-Day Member Guest
Some familiar faces came out to play in the opening One Day Member Guest. Former members tried to take advantage of their knowledge of the course, but they were no match for Sean Patrick and Fred Yanni, shooting a 69 gross to take first place. In second, shooting a 70, was the team of Frank Colavtio and Glenn Belush. As for Net winners, honors went to Ron Molles and Rick Sacrider, shooting a 12 under 58.
Menâs Member Member
The weather could not have been better for this past weekendâs Menâs Member Member and the field took full advantage.
Defending Net Champions Len Calbo and his son Lenny Calbo were looking to repeat and started out strongly, shooting an 8 under 62, but right behind them was John OâConnor and Mike Boyle, shooting a 10 under 60. Would the Calboâs be able to come from behind and repeat? Larry McCoy and Tim Manoni had other ideas, posting a 61, 66 and winning low net by 1 with a 127.
As for gross, John Dubraski was looking to repeat as champion, but with a new partner, 2011 Club Champion Steve Mais. Shooting a 2 over 72, Dubraski and Mais were two shots behind round-one leaders Mike Johnson and Tim Carr. Knowing they had to go low, Steve Mais shot a 72 on his own ball, and combined with Dubraski to shoot 71.
In with 143, the pressure was on Johnson and Mais to close the deal, but a second-round 73 forced a playoff. With pars on the first hole for both teams, it came down to a four-foot slider to win the match. Winning on the second playoff hole were Johnson and Carr over Dubraski and Mais.
