Firm Sues Town Over Library Work
A West Haven firm is suing the town, seeking to be paid money it claims the town owes it for asbestos removal work, which it did in connection with the expansion of C.H. Booth Library on Main Street.
In a lawsuit filed May 23 in Danbury Superior Court, Petco Insulation Company states that as of May 1, the town still owed it a balance of $72,378, plus related costs, for work which it had done on the library project.
Through the lawsuit, Petco seeks to collect the money, interest, costs, and other relief from the court.
According to the lawsuit, on October 23, 1996, the town awarded the firm a contract for asbestos decontamination and abatement work at the library, which was undergoing an expansion project. That contract was later expanded, requiring the firm to provide additional services, it adds.
The town is scheduled to appear in court June 20 to answer the allegations in the lawsuit.
