The Family Fun Fest & Craft Fair held Sunday, May 22, drew hundreds of participants to Fairfield Hills, where they took part in a range of activities keyed to families with small children.

The six-hour event was sponsored by Merryhill Child Care Center on Queen Street and the United Jewish Center of Danbury.

The event had many crafts tents and food trucks, plus several kiddie-oriented amusements, such as touch-a-truck displays, bounce houses, an obstacle course, a petting zoo, face painting, and live entertainment. The festival was staged in the area near Newtown Hall and Woodbury Hall, just off Wasserman Way.

A set of four diagonal poles that were rigged with heavy elastic cords allowed harnessed children to merrily bounce up and down, defying gravity and providing thrills.

Also, a large inflatable slide provided tots with a downhill experience. A couple of colorful bounce houses also let children roam about colorful inflated environments.

Children attending the festival petted a very large St Bernard, as well as a very small miniature horse. When viewed in comparison, there was not much difference in size between those two animals.

Besides the many crafts tents installed near Woodbury Hall and Newtown Hall, the section of the festival near Washington Circle had several food trucks, where festival-goers lined up for treats.
