JUNE 4: The Second Company Governorâs Horse will hold its Second Annual Horse Show on Sunday June 4, 2000 at the unitâs facility on the Fairfield Hills grounds in Newtown. Both Western and English classes will be featured. This event will benefit St. Vincentâs Foundation âSwim Across the Soundâ cancer prevention programs and the Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard. Contact Ev Lindeborn for more details (203) 426-6723 or (203) 268-4675. JUNE 4: The 14th annual Bethany Horse Show will be held Sunday, June 4, at the old Bethany Airport on Route 63 in Bethany. There will be four rings, featuring draft horses, miniature horses, hunters, jumpers, Arabians, carriage driving, and Western and English horsemanship. Show starts at 8 am and runs until 6 pm, rain or shine. Admission is $2.50 and children under 10 are free. Call 1-203-272-0142 for further information
JUNE 10: The Falls Village Benefit Horse show will be held Saturday, June 10. The show will be judged by Carl Dena and will feature Pleasure, Evergeeen Hunter, Low Hunter, and Open Hunter classes. There will also be a lead-line class at noon. The High Point Hunter Cooler and several Championship Coolers will be awarded, as well as a $300 Trainers award. New this year is a $300 Open Hunter Classic Class that is open to everyone with fences to be about three feet in height. JUNE 12-18: The 71st annual Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show will be held Monday, June 12, through Sunday, June 18, at the Ox Ridge Hunt Club at 512 Middlesex Avenue in Darien. Local Day is June 12 and gates open at 11 am. The rest of the week, gates open from 8 am to 5 pm. World class horses and riders, including leading candidates for the 2000 Olympic show jumping team, will be on hand. Call 1-508-698-6810 for admission information.

JUNE 17: The Newtown Bridle Lands Association, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving open space, will be holding a âSpring Into Summerâ hunter pace. The pace is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2000 rain or shine. The conditioning course will take place on the beautiful grounds of The 2nd Company Governorâs Horse Guard in Newtown. All fences will have go-arounds. Breakfast and lunch will be available by vendor and water will be available for the horses. Pre-register by June 7, with a copy of Rabies and Coggins certificates. Come out and enjoy the beautiful facility, pleasant ride through Newtownâs spectacular fields and donât forget your approved safety helmet and footwear. For more information please call Bev MacMillan at (203) 270-0202.

JUNE 3: MEOW, Inc., a non-profit, non-destroy feline welfare organization, will hold its Spring Tag Sale on Saturday, June 3, from 8 am to 4 pm, at the Bethlehem Fairgrounds on Route 61 in Bethlehem. JUNE 11: MEOW, Inc., a non-profit, non-destroy feline welfare organization, will hold a Rabies Clinic on Sunday, June 11, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, at Blue Seal Feeds on Lower South Main Street in Torrington (Exit 42 off Route 8). Dogs and cats are welcome and all must be at least three months old, on leash or in carriers, and with previous vaccination certificates. Fee is $9, cash only.
