Habitat Plans Annual Breakfast

DANBURY — Housatonic Habitat for Humanity will hold its fourth annual fundraising breakfast at the Inn at Ethan Allen, on Mill Plain Road, on Friday, June 2, from 7:30 to 9 am.

The breakfast raised more than $30,000 in 1999. The event helps support HHH’s efforts to provide decent, affordable housing for everyone regardless of race, color, religion or creed.

The local affiliate serves the towns of Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, Redding and Ridgefield. The average price for a three-bedroom house in the area is over $200,000; a house built by HHH currently costs under $70,000, and is sold without profit, through no-interest loans, to qualifying low-income families who must invest at least 400 hours of  “sweat equity.”

Seating at the breakfast is $150 per ten-person table. For more information about the breakfast and HHH, call Ed Allan, breakfast chairman, at 797-0200, or the Habitat office at 203/431-1392.
