Sawmill Road

Sawmill Road

Sometime between May 9 and 13, someone entered a home on Sawmill Road and stole $100 worth of coins, among other items, police said. Police ask anyone with information about the residential burglary/larceny to contact them at 270-8888.

Gun Found

Police report that they are holding a BB/pellet gun, which was found on Jo-Mar Drive, near Riverside Road. Police received the gun for safekeeping on the morning of May 15. The owner should contact police at 426-5841 to claim the gun.

Dodgingtown Collision

Motorist Gilvane Bananella Lulu, 19, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was stopped on westbound Hattertown Road, at its intersection with Dodgingtown Road, at about 5:10 pm May 15, when motorist Jennifer Budlowski, 26, of 55 Sugar Street, who was driving a 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier westward on Dodgingtown Road, stopped to turn left into the driveway at 1 Dodgingtown Road, police said.

The Ford then went through the intersection and struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Lulu an infraction ticket on charges of failure to follow at a safe distance and driving with a driver’s license.

Riverside Road DUI

Police report that motorist Jeremiah Hunihan, 66, of 61 Riverside Road was driving a vehicle on the morning of May 16 that struck wooden guardrailing alongside the westbound shoulder of Riverside Road, after which Hunihan drove away from the scene of the accident.

Police said that on investigating the incident, they charged Hunihan with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and making a restricted turn.

After processing the arrest, police released Hunihan on a $250 bond for a June 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Bracelet

Midafternoon on May 14, a person found a gold-colored bracelet in the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street, police report. The bracelet’s owner should contact police at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the item.

Sandy Hook DUI

Police said they received a report at about 9:45 pm May 16 that a person was driving a black Nissan Pathfinder sport-utility vehicle erratically on Route 34 in Sandy Hook.

Police said that on locating the Nissan, they saw it serving on the roadway, after which they stopped it on the Interstate 84 Exit 11 on-ramp.

Police said the driver Tommy B. Na, 35, of Danbury failed field sobriety testing. Police charged Na with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. After processing the arrest, police released Na on a $100 bond for a May 30 court appearance.

Warrant

Police said that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Trever Somerville, 23, of Shelton came to the police station on May 16 and was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court, driving under suspension, and failure to wear a seatbelt. The motor vehicle charges stem from a past incident. Police released Somerville on a $250 bond for a May 29 court appearance.

Moving Violations

Police report they spotted motorist Mark Marley, 33, of 265 South Main Street driving a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer over the road’s centerline on southbound South Main Street about 9:15 pm May 17.

Police stopped Marley and investigated, after which they charged him with failure to drive to the right and driving under suspension.

Police released him on a $50 bond for a June 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Botsford Hill Road

Police report that while on patrol about 4 pm May 18 on Botsford Hill Road near Little Brook Lane, they spotted motorist Christopher M. Jurman, 36, of 39 Brushy Hill Road, who was driving without a valid vehicle registration sticker.

Police charged Jurman with failure to display a valid registration sticker, driving under suspension, and driving without having minimum automotive insurance coverage.

Police released Jurman on a $65 bond for a June 5 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Charge

Police said that while on patrol about 9 pm May 18, they spotted a Volvo traveling southward on Toddy Hill Road. The Volvo’s driver then switched on the vehicle’s left turn signal, but turned right onto Settlers Lane, police said.

Police said they stopped the vehicle to investigate and gave the driver, Jennifer Hildebrand, 39, of 18 Settlers Lane, field sobriety tests, which she failed.    

Police said they charged Hildebrand with driving under the influence and improper use of a turn signal. Police released her on bond for a May 29 court appearance.

Auto Off Road

State police report motorist Catherine Bayusik, 18, of Wallingford was driving a 1995 Dodge Neon westward on Interstate 84, about half-mile west of Exit 10, about 4:15 pm May 15. The Dodge drifted off the left road shoulder, after which Bayusik turned to the right and struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder, state police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Bayusik to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, state police said. State police said Bayusik failed to drive in the established lane.

Three-Vehicle Crash

State police report a three-vehicle accident about 5:30 pm May 12 on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9.

Motorist Barbara Kurman, 60, of Watertown, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer sport-utility vehicle, stopped because traffic had suddenly stopped, state police said.

A 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Victor Hoyecki, Jr, 43, of Middletown, then stopped behind the stopped Chevrolet, state police said.

Motorist Amber Lynn Furtado, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Mazda Protégé, then struck the rear end of the Pontiac, pushing the Pontiac into the rear end of the Chevrolet, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Furtado was following too closely.

Route 34 Collision

Motorist Andrea McGowan, 42, of Pearl River, N.Y., who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban eastward on Route 34 near Sherman Street at about 5 pm May 18, began to slow down for slowing vehicles ahead of her and was struck from behind by motorist Andre Jackson, 45, of McDonough, Georgia, who was driving a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, police said. The Chevrolet carried three passengers, but there were no injuries, police said.

Police issued Jackson an infraction ticket for following too closely. Police issued McGowan a written warning for failure to carry a vehicle registration.

Berkshire Sideswipe

Police report a two-vehicle accident near 50 Berkshire Road about 5:10 pm May 19.

Eastbound motorist Laura Cisero, 41, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Ford Expedition, was stopped in the eastbound lane with her left turn signal on and was waiting for oncoming traffic to clear, when eastbound motorist Craig Doersch, 26, of 25 Bridge End Farm Lane, who was driving a 1999 Subaru UVT, was approaching the Ford from behind, police said.

Police said Doersch saw Cisero start to turn left, so he attempted to pass the Ford on the right, but as Doersch was passing it, Cisero turned back into the eastbound lane and the Subaru sideswiped the Ford.

There were no injuries. Police issued Doersch a written warning for improper passing.

Queen Street

Police said they spotted motorist Stephen J. Selezan, 20, of 10 Hedge Meadow Lane driving on Queen Street without wearing his seatbelt at about 5:30 pm May 20, so they stopped him.

Police charged Selezan with failure to wear a seatbelt and with driving while under suspension. Police released Selezan on a promise to appear June 4 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Mailbox Incident

Police report that sometime between 6 pm on May 16 and 8 am on May 19, someone threw a bag of garbage against a mailbox at 53 Bennetts Bridge Road, damaging the mailbox. Police ask anyone with information about the vandalism to contact them at 426-5841.

Motorcycle Vs Turkey

Motorcyclist Craig Dickinson, 39, of 20 Great Ring Road was driving a 1998 Ducati westward on Route 34, about 100 feet west of its intersection with High Rock Road, at about 4:12 pm May 18, when a wild turkey flew across the roadway, police said.

Dickinson swerved to the right to avoid striking the bird, went into a slide, and was then thrown from the motorcycle, police said. Dickinson received neck and rib injuries in the accident and was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said. No enforcement was taken.

Residential Damage

 At about 10 pm on May 18, someone kicked in a storm door at the front entrance of 19 Clear View Drive, police report. Police are investigating the vandalism and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841.

South Main Crash

A two-car accident took place on South Main Street, near Ricky’s Shopping Center, about 3 pm May 13, police report.

Motorist Jill Marie Fleming, 40, of 11 Bridle Path Trail, who was driving a 2001 BMW 530-I-A was slowing down for traffic in front of her, when she was struck from behind by motorist Jamie G. Quinn, 17, of Bethel, who was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Quinn a written warning for following too closely.

 

Riverside Road

Motorist Mary Rose Kristopik, 40, of Moosup, who was driving a 1994 Cadillac DeVille westward on Riverside Road about 7:30 am May 20, signaled to make a left turn onto Dickinson Drive and then stopped, police said.

Westbound motorist Richard Marotto, 31, of 49 Buttonball Drive, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, then drove into the rear end of the Cadillac, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Marotto a written warning for following too closely.For police reports

Route 34 Crash

Motorist Donald Belanger, 72, of 20 Honey Lane, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier sedan, turned left onto Route 34 from a stop sign on Bradley Lane at about 5:11 pm May 21, and was involved in a collision with an oncoming 2000 Chevrolet Venture van driven by Debbie Isabella, 38, of 48 Great Quarter Road, police report. There were three child passengers in the van, but there were no injuries in the accident, police said.

Police issued Belanger an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to grant the right of way from a stop sign.

Bennetts Bridge Accident

Motorist Michael Daniels, 18, of 23 Bennetts Bridge Road was driving a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse on Bennetts Bridge Road at about 9 pm May 21, when he failed to negotiate a right curve, went off the road, and got stuck on an embankment, police said.

Daniels was not injured. Police said they issued Daniels an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to drive to the right on a curve.

Church Hill/Queen

Police report a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Queen Street and Church Hill Road about 4:30 pm May 19. The accident occurred when both vehicles were making turns.

The collision involved motorist Kristen Landolfi, 17, of 23 Sherman Street, who was driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant, and motorist Eve McCarthy, 43, of 12 Elana Lane, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Durango, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Landolfi a written warning for failure to grant the right of way from a private driveway. Police verbally warned McCarthy for failure to carry an automotive insurance card.
