Alfred E. Fodor
Alfred E. Fodor, 80, of South Windsor, died May 19 in Manchester Memorial Hospital.
Mr Fodor was born in Bridgeport, raised in Trumbull, and resided in Fairfield for many years before retiring to South Windsor 17 years ago.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Virginia (Hoyle) Fodor of South Windsor; five loving children, David E. Fodor and his wife, Marie, of Newtown, Donna R. Smith and her husband, Dee, of Ellington, Joyce H. Golesky and her husband, John, of Trumbull, Amy J. Waldera and her husband, Bruce, of Milford, and Virginia H. Fiore and her husband, Nick, of Monroe; his cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Tara Fodor, Gregory and Mayra Fodor, Jana Smith, Carrie Smith, Amanda Waldera, Allison Waldera, Abby Waldera, Darrin Fodor, Nicole Fiore, Rachael Fiore, and Elisa Fiore; one great-grandchild, Madison Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a retired mailman for the Southport section of Fairfield. A graduate of Bassick High School, he was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. Mr Fodor was a devoted family man and avid gardener. He enjoyed reading and history.
Funeral services were held on May 22 in the Trumbull Congregational Church, 3115 Reservoir Avenue, in Trumbull, with the Rev Richard Yerrington officiating. Interment was in Lawncroft Cemetery with full military honors.
The Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, was in charge of arrangements.
