HAMDEN ââ Nancy Haas of Newtown, president and CEO of Haas Consulting Services, will present a workshop, âAnd You Think Diversity is Just for the Big Guys,â at the fifth annual Successful Women in Business Conference, which will be held from 9 am to 5 pm on Wednesday, June 18, at Quinnipiac University, 275 Mt Carmel Avenue. The theme for this yearâs conference is, âMoving Your Business Forward in Challenging Times.â
Ms Haas will explain what diversity means for a business. She will tackle questions such as: âCan you really improve productivity by managing the diversity that already exists among your employees?â âCan you be more competitive by reaching out to a larger customer base?â âCan diversity help improve customer service?â
Each year, more than 300 leading women business owners attend this daylong event, which is the largest conference for women entrepreneurs in Connecticut. Participants can attend 18 creative and cutting-edge workshops designed to empower established women business owners with strategies and tools that will enable them to triumph in todayâs challenging marketplace. New business owners will equally benefit as the purpose of this conference is to educate women business owners on critical business issues that will enable them to take their business ventures to the next level.
Those who attend will learn how to: use strategic alliances to grow a business; sell to the corporate market as a small business owner; manage the dynamics of a family business; and internally finance a business.
Haas Consulting Services, a certified woman-owned business enterprise headquartered in Newtown with offices in Illinois and Washington, D.C., acts as a strategic partner to assist organizations in helping their employees, reach their highest potential. Ms Haas founded this company in 1998. Before founding HCS, she worked in the corporate environment for more than 25 years at companies such as Merck & Co., IBM and General Electric. Her background includes management and staff positions in training, management development, employee relations, human resources management, sales, and employee assistance programs.
She is a member of the American Society for Training and Development and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is certified by SHRM in Diversity Training and its successful management. Ms Haas received her MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and her BS in management from Gwynedd Mercy College.
