Technology Conference In Trumbull

TRUMBULL — Governor John G. Rowland will join Microsoft Corp Vice President Peter Boit and several of Connecticut’s top technology executives as speakers at “Technology 2000: Reinventing Your Company In The New Economy,” a June 1 conference in Trumbull.

The conference will be held from 8 am until 2 pm at the Trumbull Marriott Hotel. Tony White, the CEO of PE Corporation, is also a keynote speaker at the conference.

“Today in Connecticut, the parameters of business are no longer defined by familiar boundaries of bricks, concrete and steel, but are as wide open as the promise of technology,” said Kenneth O. Decko, CBIA president and CEO. “The new economy is clearly upon us, and it is a knowledge- and idea-based economy where the keys to success lie in a company’s ideas, innovations and technology structure.”

In addition to hearing addresses by Gov Rowland, Mr Boit and Mr White, attendees will learn about the Connecticut General Assembly’s technology initiates from Senate Majority Leader George Jepsen. There will also be three panel discussions: “Technology Growth Engines,” “Attracting And Retaining A Skilled Workforce” and “Technology Of The Future: Looking Beyond 2000.”

“Technology Growth Engines” will include Kevin Didden, CEO of CiDRA; Louis Hernandez, CEO of Open Solutions; Vincent Kiernan, chair of Cummings & Lockwood’s e-commerce practice; and Harry Penner, president and CEO of Neurogen Corp. J Timothy Reilly, partner in charge of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Connecticut technology practice, will moderate the discussion.

Speaking about “Attracting And Retaining A Skilled Workforce” will be Catherine Candland, president and CEO of Advantage Human Resourcing; Arun Gupta, CEO of NeuVis; and Lauren Weisberg Kaufman, CBIA vice president and director of the CBIA Education Foundation.

Don Bossi, vice president of engineering for JDS Uniphase, and Patrick Reilly, IT manager for Greenfield Online, will discuss “Technology Of The Future.”

Fees for the conference are $75 per person, with tables of ten available for $600.

The event is the collaborative effort of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association, CTC and NAM’s Center for Workforce Success. It is sponsored by Cummings & Lockwood and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
