Mini Grand Prix Will Return To Downtown Danbury

DANBURY — Imagine dozens of mini racecars racing through CityCenter Danbury with thousands of spectators. I-95, B105 and STP will present the 6th Annual Mini Grand Prix to benefit the Arthritis Foundation Southern New England chapter on Sunday, June 4.

Miniature racecars powered by five horsepower engines and with high-style fiberglass bodies will be racing at top speeds of 25 miles per hour. This year’s field of company-sponsored cars include radio stations I-95 and B-105 FM, STP, Prestone, Autolite, Banta Direct Marketing, Barden Corporation, Docusource, Boehringer Ingelheim, Connecticut Fraternal Order of Police, Neutocrete, SuperFoodMart, Miller Lite, Bob Sharp Motors, Action Motors, Hudson Machine Works and Poland Springs.

The racing takes place on White and Main Street with opening ceremonies starting at 10 am. The championship race is scheduled for approximately 3 pm.

In addition to the racing there will be a huge day-long festival on the CityCenter Green featuring kids’ games, racecar displays, a silent auction, and live music all day from Cover Up Spanky, Marah, The Pat McGee Band and Texas Flood. Food from a number of Danbury’s most popular restaurants will also be available throughout the grand prix.
