‘Gadgets And Gizmos’ In Danbury

DANBURY — To welcome the slowed-down pace of a summer’s day, Danbury Museum & Historical Society has opened its summer exhibit, entitled “Gadgets, Gee-Gaws And Gizmos: 200 Years of Time-Saving and Entertaining Devices.” On view at 43 Main Street in Huntington Hall, the exhibit features interesting artifacts from the collection of the Danbury Museum.

The exhibit focuses on household items such as spinning wheels and cooking utensils as well as entertaining items such as an early radio and an Edison phonograph. It also includes a PBS documentary about America’s most famous gadget, the telephone, along with several artifacts visitors will be able to explore with staff supervision, and an “I Spy” game for the younger generation.

Regular exhibit hours are 1 to 4 pm Wednesday through Saturday. “Gadgets, Gee-Gaws And Gizmos” will be on view through August 19, although the museum will be closed over Memorial Day and July 4 weekends. The museum gift shop will also be open during exhibit hours.
