Fatal Heart Attack Causes Crash In Botsford
A local man, who police said suffered an apparent heart attack while driving, was pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital Monday evening following an accident on South Main Street in Botsford.
Police said William Carboy, Jr, 62, of 3 Pastors Walk, was driving his 1995 Plymouth Neon southbound on South Main Street about 6:12 pm when he suffered an apparent heart attack, which caused the auto to go out of control and cross the roadâs center line, enter and cross over the northbound lane, and leave the road. The car then continued onward until it struck a parked, unoccupied 1990 Saab 900-S sedan which was in a driveway at 277 South Main Street. Virginia Topolski of Bridgeport owns the Saab.
The accident occurred just south of South Main Streetâs intersection with Button Shop Road. The crash occurred while the Plymouth was traveling about 30 miles per hour, police said. Police said Mr Carboyâs death did not appear to have been caused by injuries he suffered in the impact, but from an apparent heart attack which preceded the collision.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the crash scene and attempted to revive Mr Carboy. Mr Carboy was pronounced on arrival at Danbury Hospital.
