Chamber Program To Feature

Land Use Agencies

The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, Inc. will hold a business workshop entitled, “Working With Newtown’s Land Use Agencies” at the C.H. Booth Library meeting room, 7 to 8:30 pm, on Tuesday, June 8.

The goal of the workshop is to educate local business owners about the purpose and functioning of each of the land use boards in Newtown. The panel will consist of members from the Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board Appeals, Conservation Commission, Borough Zoning Commission and Borough Zoning Board of Appeals. The panel members will give an overview of the regulations and procedures that concern Newtown businesses. Such issues include business signs and businesses that are operated from residences.

According to the workshop moderator, Alan Clavette, “Our goal is to educate the participants about how the land use agencies work and to encourage better understanding and communication between the land use agencies and the public.”

The event will include light refreshments and is free to all Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, Inc. members. There will be a $10 fee for all non-Chambers members who wish to attend.

Reservations are required. Call the Chamber office at 426-2695 to make reservations by June 2.
