Edith (Metzger) Irving, 81, of Trumbull, died May 19 in Yale-New Haven Hospital.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Rose Baldour, and her husband, Charles, of Sandy Hook.
Mrs Irving was born in Bridgeport and was a lifelong area resident. She was a 1939 graduate of Albertus Magnus College, and taught in the Bridgeport public school system for many years. She maintained a summer home in Pittsburgh, N.H. She was the widow of Vincent C. Irving.
Survivors also include one son, Charles J. Irving and his wife, Janet, of Essex; two other daughters, Pamela J. Hicks and her husband, Leonard, of Asheville, N.C. and Maribeth Schwartz and her husband, Robert, of Branford; nine grandchildren, Leonard Hicks, III, Caroline Hicks, Jessie A. Irving, Carrie A. Irving, Emily B. Schwartz, Robert G. Schwartz, Jr, Claire F. Schwartz, Charles D. Baldour and Austin G. Baldour; and three brothers, Robert Metzger of Ocala, Fla., the Rev Andrew Metzger of St Leoâs, Fla., and Philip Metzger of Fairfield. She was predeceased by a brother, Harry Metzger.
Memorial contributions may be made to St Leoâs Abbey, St Leoâs, Fla.
A joint Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, June 3, in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Essex, at 10 am for Vincent C. Irving, who died on November 30, 1999, and Edith D. Irving. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery, Essex.
The Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull, was in charge of arrangements.
