On Wednesday, May 23, from 5 to 9 pm, town police officers will participate in a fundraising event for the Special Olympics of Connecticut at Market Place Kitchen andamp; Bar at The Village at Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road.

At that event, police will help serve restaurant patrons to raise money for Special Olympics activities to be held in June.

On Friday, June 8, town police and others will participate in the local leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run on a course through Newtown.

All of the money raised through "tips" given to police at the May 23 Tip-A-Cop event at Market Place will be donated to the Special Olympics.
