Sometime before the first full week of June, residents on Violette Road in Hawleyville will be restricted from using the northern end of the short avenue that connects Pocono Road to Mt Pleasant Road.

Newtown Public Works Director Fred Hurley said the temporary closure will happen to create a staging area for equipment being used for a sewer installation project that he said on May 20, will commence within two weeks. As a result, Violette Road will be blocked at the Pocono Road intersection.

The sewer expansion project will reportedly start with the construction of a sewage collector system at Midway Home Estates, a mobile home park near that westerly intersection of Violette and Mt Pleasant Roads.

Mr Hurley said on May 20 that the exact date of the closure, which will involve the installation of temporary jersey barriers, had not been finalized.

The northern section of Violette Road will be closed once the Hawleyville sewer project gets underway within the next few weeks. The roadway will be used as a staging area for equipment being used for that project. (Google Maps)
