William H. Newman

Beloved Son

William H. Newman, 51, of Landenberg, Penn., died May 14, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Fairfield, he was the son of William M. Newman of Sandy Hook, and the late Elizabeth Inderdohnen Newman.

During his earlier years, Mr Newman was very active in the Boys Scouts of America and was very proud to have earned his Eagle Scout badge.

He was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield. He received his bachelor of science degree in forestry and wildlife in 1981 and his master of science degree in 1985, both from Virginia Tech. After college, he worked as a research scientist for the Masonite Corporation in Chicago, and the ICI Polyurethanes Group, later Huntsman Corporation, in West Deptford, N.J. He also received a Pennsylvania State Teacher’s Certificate from West Chester University.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his life partner, Tim Warner of Landenberg; two sisters, Elizabeth Hollopter and her husband, Garry, and Joan Oldham and her husband, Steve; one brother, Chris Newman and his wife, Dorreen; seven nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets.

His memorial service was May 20, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, Kennett Square, Penn. Burial will be private.
