The Final Chapter Of The Civil War

BROOKFIELD — On Monday, June 7, at 7:30 pm, Brookfield Museum and Historical Society will host a multimedia lecture by Newtown resident David Montgomery as part of its ongoing American Military Forum.

Mr Montgomery, a former Marine officer with a lifelong interest in military history, will discuss the crucial events that followed Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. It will focus on President Lincoln’s assassination, other Confederate Army surrenders, continued Southern guerilla warfare, and the movement toward reconciliation and reconstruction.

Admission is free and complimentary refreshments will be served.
