Synergy Brass Quintet Raises Funds For Edmond Town Hall

Acclaimed jazz ensemble the Synergy Brass Quintet played to raise money for Edmond Town Hall on Saturday, May 15. The night was one of many events held in town during the band’s visit to the area.

The Synergy Brass Quintet played at each of the Newtown School district’s schools between May 10 and May 18, and the performance at Edmond Town Hall was an added show by the band.

Sponsors for the Edmond Town Hall benefit concert are the Creative Music Center in conjunction with Bach Trumpets, a division of Conn-Selmer, Microtel, Stratton Faxon Law Firm, Associated Refuse, Tim Rahr and Sarah Roman, Claris, Sippin Energy Products, Inc, Union Savings Band, and graphic designer Joanie Minor.

The cultural arts event gave all proceeds to the Mary Hawley Society, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase public awareness of the historic nature of Edmond Town Hall and to raise funds for its preservation.

When at the different schools in town, the Synergy Brass Quintet gave appropriate age performances for each group. The quintet, comprising Jonathan Hurrell, Greg Lloyd, Bobby Thorp, Jordan Witt, and Jesse Chavez, also played with bands at Newtown High School and Newtown Middle School during their stay.

Newtown Middle School Cultural Arts Chair Andrea Spencer, Reed PTA Cultural Arts Chair Robin Fitzgerald, and Head O’ Meadow Cultural Arts Chair Ginny Bloomquist oversaw planning, promotion, and more for the Newtown schedule.
